Position Title
Lead Accountant –Accounting
Department: Finance/Accounting
Reports to: Sr. Director Accounting
Objectives of the role:
• Provide financial leadership by managing the general accounting and reporting activities to ensure accurate and timely compliance with all internal and external reporting requirements.
• This person must be a forward looking, proactive leader with business experience in increasingly complex businesses, across geographies and business channels.
• The candidate must be an experienced, collaborative accounting professional with the background and interpersonal skills sufficient to function successfully in a growth-enabling and challenging position.
• Must demonstrate the ability to implement new concepts, ideas, integration of new businesses, and systems as needed.
• Must have the ability to embrace and assume “ownership” of various processes and reports.
• Attention to detail, superior organizational and project management skills, and exceptional communication skills are important.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide accounting, processing and analytical support for general accounting activities. Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
• Responsible for collection, tracking, analyzing, reporting and reconciliation of accounting activity on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
• Maintain lease schedules & book deferred rent adjustments
• Update prepaid expense schedule & book EOM entry (including prepaid insurance, sign-on bonuses)
• Book deferred revenue entry, EOM
• Assist with coding invoices, specifically for tech and rent payments
• Book EOM tech accruals (work closely with Mandy to assure all accruals are entered)
• Assist with ad hoc requests as needed
• Prepare balance sheet reporting pages for prepaids & other current assets, other non-current liabilities, and goodwill & intangibles
• Assist as needed in support of Wholesale, Ecomm, and Retail business
• Prepare and record required journal entries for certain entities including daily transactions and monthly expense allocations
• Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly schedules used in the preparation and completion of the month-end closing process
• Improve financial status by analyzing results and variances, identifying trends, and recommending actions
• Recommend to management any updates to accounting policies related to improve processes and procedures
• Prepare schedules related to intercompany activity, and work directly with the Parent company personnel to reconcile related activity
• Acquire a deep understanding of the business processes related to assigned general ledger accounts, including transaction flow
• Perform duties in compliance with GAAP, company and department policies and procedures, internal controls, and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
• Assist accounting management on any and all accounting related issues
• Prepare ad hoc financial reporting requests, other analyses and special projects requested by management
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
• Minimum 5-10 years of accounting experience preferred
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and stringent deadlines within a fast-paced environment is a must
• Ability to organize and prioritize
• Must have strong analytical skills
• Must have excellent communication skills – verbal and written
• Ability to effectively work withmultiple departments
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel – experience in Pivot Tables and VLookups are a +
