Overview:
The VP, Talent Relations & Strategy will act as the liaison between New York & Company, celebrity partners, their representatives and internal businesses to support and manage all aspects of celebrity partnerships. This position plays a critical role in developing celebrity strategies, leveraging and strengthening existing relationships to drive category performance. This position is responsible for effectively communicating celebrity strategy and direction to all areas of the company, including Creative Marketing, Public Relations, Design, Merchandising and Sourcing.
Responsibilities:
BRAND STRATEGY
• Identify and recommend short and long-term business strategies and opportunities to engage celebrity partners and drive category performance; highlight potential opportunities throughout the year
• Secure celebrity and celebrity team buy-in on strategies/opportunities and manage approach to guarantee contractual compliance and successful execution of plans
• Cultivate relationships with internal teams (e.g., Marketing, Merchandising, Design) and external parties (e.g., celebrity partners, production companies, talent representatives) to ensure a comprehensive talent management strategy
• Work with celebrity representatives to seek out major third party opportunities that complement and enhance New York & Company’s celebrity strategy; ensure strong cross promotion with other projects and professional appearances
• Implement processes and procedures to engage, track and manage celebrity partner impact and provide monthly performance updates and future outlook updates to the talent team and internal team
• Act as a point person and strategic counsel between the Design and Creative teams in regards to talent relations, talent business strategy and issue resolution
PRODUCT & MARKETING MANAGEMENT
• Manage the cross functional coordination and timelines for Marketing, PR/Events and product development
• Conduct market research with Strategy team to determine growth opportunities
• Partner with the Merchandising team on seasonal assortment strategies to drive sales
• Partner with the Design team on product presentation and facilitate getting feedback and alignment from celebrity
• Strategize with Creative Directors/Marketing teams/Merchandising on campaign strategies, looks to shoot and obtaining celebrity feedback and alignment
• Partner with the SVP, Creative and team to manage celebrity shoot & retouching budget as well as shoot production
PR, SOCIAL, & STORE EVENTS
• Create and maintain New York & Company’s celebrity publicity event calendar
• Manage pre-event logistics including facilitating contracts, talent payments and required approvals
• Liaise with celebrity representatives to execute pre-event logistics (e.g., travel, accommodations, run of show)
• Accompany and manage celebrity partner at all New York & Company led publicity events and provide on-site talent coverage and support, trouble shoot issues as they arise
• In partnership with the SVP, Creative and team, manage the budget for PR activities and store events
• Partner with the celebrity PR and social team to ensure active engagement; align on messages and look for additional breakthrough opportunities
• Post event and PR follow-up, including measuring ROI
Required Experience:
Qualifications:
• 10+ years of experience in Brand Management, growing and developing celebrity brands
• Thorough knowledge of all areas of the entertainment industry, including an extensive knowledge of talent contracts
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Experienced in dealing with talent and talent management teams (agents, lawyers, managers and publicists)
• Ability to work well under pressure and with tight deadlines
• Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
• Highly organized, detail oriented, efficient and precise in his/her work
• Possesses excellent follow-through skills
• Able to interact with all levels of management and different personalities to resolve issues
• Excellent interpersonal skills and diplomacy; able to influence teams across the organization
• Prompt responsiveness to both internal and external clients is imperative
• Proven ability to demonstrate calmness and composure in crisis situations
• Strong administrative, critical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to travel and work evenings and on weekends as required by ongoing projects and events
Education:Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
