About the Role
The Exclusive Brands team is committed to creating and delivering quality merchandise to our clients. You have an extraordinary chance to work with our entire Merchandising team and gain coveted experience in product development and production.
As the Associate Production Manager, you have a clear understanding of the multiple exclusive brands at Stitch Fix, in order to, develop the best merchandise for each brand. You are responsible for the development and execution of new styles, in partnership with our Technical Designer and Buying teams.
You're excited about this opportunity because you will…
Product Strategy Management:
• Own the complete development + production of at least one category for our in-house Exclusive Brands, specifically Knit Tops and Graphic Tees
• Define and drive the seasonal goals of your categor(ies) in terms of product line vision and financial goals
• Be comfortable working on the day to day product detail whilst anticipating future needs to ensure the correct product and vendor mix for the business as it scales
• Investigate, identify and propose new fabrics and trims to innovate the best products possible
• Execute development according to the sourcing strategy; determine the placement of goods that will optimize the existing vendor base to achieve the highest quality, margin and compliance with lead times
• Manage the line development schedule, ensuring individual and team calendar deadlines are met
• Review the assortment with team leads to ensure balanced designs across the various brands and client profiles
• Determine and negotiate initial costing of garments up until the production stage; including the preparation of an estimated cost during the proto stage and line review
• Actively communicate with the cross-functional team to proactively identify opportunities to platform fabrics across the various categories
• Continually leverage data and Merchant insights to continue enhancing development and creation of products
People and relationship management:
• Actively communicate with the cross-functional team to proactively identify opportunities to platform fabrics across the various categories
• Build and manage your own vendor strategy, onboarding and evaluating vendors seasonally to ensure quality product for current and future seasons.
• Travel to source for vendor development meetings, giving and receiving feedback and encouraging product opportunities.
• Partner with Buying to align on seasonal business strategies and ensure line development meets the needs of the category
• Partner with Technical Design to engineer products to elevate quality in construction and realize cost efficiencies
Financial Management:
• Review business management reports by category and by vendors to make appropriate recommendations and/or necessary negotiations that drive business results
• Coach and support the team in achieving financial goals
• Influence business partners to minimize and bring resolution to financial liabilities
• Ensure departmental financial target inventory plans are met
We’re excited about you because…
• You have a BA/BS in a related field and 4+ years of experience in product development and/or production
• You have multi-product and multi-brand experience; knit tops and graphic tees experience preferred
• You will be comfortable working in a macro/micro way with vendors and strategy
• You are process driven, constantly looking for better ways to work
• You have traveled to vendors at source and can represent your team and company in a business environment
• You are extremely detail-oriented and excited to apply this to product
• You are a proactive and creative problem solver and an excellent multi-tasker. Flexible for a fast-paced work environment
• You are a collaborative team player with the ability to lead and influence others through change while achieving and maintaining results
• You proactively troubleshoot and are always thinking ahead to mitigate delays and problems
• You have extensive knowledge of fabric/trims and garment construction
• You are independent and can work with little direction
• You are proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint)
