Urban Outfitters: Associate CAD Designer - Shoes & Handbags
Reports to
GMM Accessories; Shoe and Bags
Overview
The Associate CAD Designer will contribute to the development, inspiration and execution of own brand product that is appropriate for the Urban Outfitters customer.
Responsibilities
• Collaborate with the GMM, Merchant Team and Concept on research for trend styles and updates for core product for Handbags and Shoe departments
• Pass all technical information and packets to Production, Factories and Vendors on all in house designed styles, partner on selecting trims and colors as directed and approved by merchant team
• Collaborate with the Merchant team to establish and source trims and work with inhouse print team on artwork that is appropriate for the seasonal concept direction
• Manage development and execution of trim packages
• Create specs to original artworks relative to the seasonal concept and modifications passed by merchant team
• Set-up spec sheets and communicate fit and construction details and complete all Technical Design packets to pass to PD, Factories or Vendors
• Communicate and follow-up with PD on style development details and ensure all proper information was passed to Factories
• Partner with PD on the status of styles in development on a daily basis to ensure product execution meets merchant specifications and delivery dates of samples are met
• Review and confirm incoming Samples with Merchants and PD partners to ensure they are correct
• Assist in sample preparation for Pre-Proto and Product presentations
• Attend and participate in monthly concept meetings and relevant benchmark meetings
• Perform special tasks as needed
Qualifications
• Extensive technical knowledge of Handbag and Shoe construction
• Highly adaptive to changing environments and strong ability to partner with multiple teams on direction
• Strong creative skills and understanding of Urban Outfitters brand aesthetic
• Strong passion for accessories design with the ability to recognize and translate trend direction into brand appropriate product
• Highly creative, organized and self-motivated with the ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Sound communication skills to effectively collaborate with Buying, PD, Production, Vendors and Concept
• Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Illustrator, knowledge of Web Pdm a plus)
• Must have 2 years experience in accessories design
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion or Textile Design
