Overview
Anthropologie seeks to hire an Ecommerce Country Manager for China to oversee the initial deployment of a Tmall Marketplace, manage ongoing operations after launch, and plot strategy to grow the online business in China. This role will have overall ownership of business strategy, 3rd party relationships, trade and operations. Only bi-lingual English/Mandarin candidates will be considered, with a preference for candidates that can show intimate familiarity with the Chinese consumer and culture, with a particular focus on Chinese online shopping behavior and trends. This role will reside within the Anthropologie home office in Philadelphia, with significant travel possibilities to China, and will be responsible for all aspects of our Chinese ecommerce operations and growth strategy.
Responsibilities
• Business Owner – You will be the China Tmall business champion within Anthropologie, own business strategy, manage the day to day business and be the P&L owner of this business. This role will be responsible for the cross-functional alignment across the various teams including, merchandising, creative, marketing, operations, finance, distribution, service and IT.
• Merchandising – Own the appearance of the shop-front and product listings and will be the direct connection with the vendor partner. Support the merchandising and maintenance of the marketplace, including optimal product selection, ensuring activation, planning site merchandising calendars, etc. Review, act on and effectively share site analytics/KPIs and customer metrics on a regular basis to drive the business.
• Marketing & Creative – Collaborate with our marketing team & vendor partner to concept, create and execute marketing and social campaigns that are relevant to drive and grow the business. Provide content for site and review vendor designs.
• Day-to-Day Operations – Ensure smooth day-to-day business operations and vendor relationship. Monitor site, fulfillment and service to ensure excellent customer experience. Effectively communicate reporting and analyze business for success and opportunity and drive change.
• Business Analysis & Market / Competitive Research – Keep abreast of market developments in China ecommerce and use this insight to guide the strategic vision to grow this business. Track our business trends against our plan for the China market.
Qualifications
• College/University degree (BS/BA or higher)
• 2+ years of experience in ecommerce environment, preferably China focused
• Fluent in both English and Mandarin, native Chinese preferred
• SEO/Baidu experience and knowledge a plus
• Familiarity with Taobao, Tmall and Alipay a strong plus
• Seasoned background in China ecommerce a strong plus
