About the Team
The Harry's Inc. Global R&D Team is responsible for all aspects of development from ideation to production of new development and maintenance of existing products. The Global Personal Care Development team supports a key strategic goal of the company – to continue to create, develop and assist production of innovative high-quality products that will be sold to and experienced by customers and retailers all over the world.
About the Role
Our Design / Art Production team is seeking an Image Specialist to develop and lead our global imagery production workflow and continually improve the color consistency of our tooled components. You’ll be both a hands-on contributor as well as guiding, coaching and coordinating members of our team. Additionally, you will continually improve the process and color consistency of the molded component parts of our products. You will manage the preparation, retouching and proofing of 4-color imagery used in our packaging and retail displays. You will build color standards across global, cross-functional work streams, as well as document workflow and standards from concept to mass production. The Image Specialist will be an independent and persistent advocate for quality and best practices. We seek a strong team player with a demonstrated ability to manage competing demands. The candidate should be energized by working in a fast-paced environment, with a desire to build a foundation for future growth. The role will be based at our headquarters in New York with domestic and international travel to be expected (up to 15%).
What you will accomplish:
• Build and document workflow standards for colorspace, proofing and printing execution internally, cross-functionally, and with outside supply partners
• Integrate the ID team and the production team color settings, calibrate screens and document internal workflows
• Lead the color proofing process and establish press-check expectations ahead of each artwork release
• Build and distribute photoshop actions, color settings and profiles, swatches and other time-saving automations to be shared with the creative team
• Become a critical resource within our studio (production artists, industrial and graphic designers, outside supply partners)
• Effectively anticipate and de-risk production issues during the cross-functional development process
• Create clear expectations for photoshoot image deliverables, file types, naming convention, and standardize where and how these assets are stored
• Continually monitor and research industry best practices and technological advancements
This should describe you:
• Expert level Retoucher
• Superior color discriminator with the confidence to deliver decisive on-site press-approvals
• Expert level Creative Cloud user, creator of Adobe CC artwork mechanicals, and builder of shared studio settings
• Experienced Manager of RIP software, Proofers, custom print queues
• Working knowledge of spot color tuning for inkjet proofers
• Advanced understanding of substrates including: paper and board, plastic, metals, etc
• Working knowledge of manufacturing processes: offset printing, silkscreen, large format, flexo, injection molding, extrusion
• Highly organized and able to pivot between lightweight and heavyweight technical approaches as each project demands
• Flexible and proactive in a fast-paced environment
• Focused and positive while resolving quality issues among different stakeholders and unique personalities
• Ability to add Build server integrations and automations (bonus!)
• Experience using a spectrophotometer to measure and analyze various tooled parts in different materials and colors (bonus!)
• Experienced with managing multiple work streams in a fast-paced, challenging environment with the ability to shift priorities as needed.
• Have experience interacting with vendors and key partners to ensure delivery of projects against aggressive timelines. Ability to collaborate and drive cross-functional consensus.
• Proactive self-starter - Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion and operate with limited oversight.
• Ability to identify, escalate, and mitigate project risk appropriately.
• Extremely organized, detail and process oriented with an ability to relentlessly follow up.
