Senior Buyer - Nextore

GENERAL FUNCTION
The Senior Buyer is responsible for ordering and successful delivery of the Owner Furnished items (example: millwork, flooring, lighting, furniture) for multi-store environment construction projects and brands. The Senior Buyer assists in developing corporate purchasing strategies, policies, and procedures, and works to the purchasing processes and projects to ensure compliance with corporate financial goals and targets. The Senior Buyer drives self to produce cost savings and/or process improvements, ensuring that all materials needed are shipped on time and on budget while maximizing value and quality for each store opening. The Senior Buyer confirms material take-offs are complete, requests and receives vendor quotes, communicates project schedules including delivery times, requests Purchase Orders to be issued, verifies delivery timeliness and condition, and resolves mis-ships or damages when identified on-site.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Builds and maintains strong partnership with internal partners: Procurement Strategic Sourcing, Architectural Design/Planning, Store Construction, and Account Management.
• Partners with Architectural Design/Planning and Procurement Strategic Sourcing team to ensure the Owner Furnished Items order form is correct with vendor names, descriptions, and unit pricing. Ensures completeness per project of the Owner Furnished Items order form (from vendor quotes and Architectural Design/Planning take-offs).
• Ensures vendors have current drawings, details and specifications for submitting per project quotes.
• Partners with Architectural Design/Planning and Procurement Strategic Sourcing in identifying any long lead time or specialty items to meet the project schedules.
• Manages Purchase Order (PO) requests in a timely fashion and confirms orders are issued as required for all projects.
• Takes ownership for publishing the OFI PO list, Vendor list, Materials list, delivery schedule, etc. for all assigned projects.
• Tracks status of all PO’s, Keeping PO’s updated throughout project.
• Updates vendors of the OFI delivery schedule for all projects. Partners closely with Construction Project Manager to ensure all items are properly scheduled.
• Coordinates with Field Super and Construction Project Managers to verify delivery of all OFI, timeliness and condition. Tracks all General Contractor confirmation of receipt, damages, etc. and manages resolution.
• Manages suppliers and supplier performance, reporting results to be incorporated into Vendor Scorecards.
• Partners with Finance, responsible for invoice resolution when issues are identified by Accounting.
• Initiates, revises, and maintains purchase orders, also monitors and ensures that PO’s are closed after final payments are made to vendors.
• Submits requests to Remedy for new vendor and article # creation.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business, or related
• 5+ years Buying or Procurement experience within a construction or business to business environment
• Self-motivated, driven individual with excellent communication & relationship skills
• Detail oriented
• Multi-task effectively
• Strong vendor management
• Proactive in all actions and creative problem solver; innovative
• Ability to drive and challenge process
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 3+ years’ experience in Specialty Retail Store Construction
