OVERVIEW:
J.Crew is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Marketing Manager who has a passion for planning, developing and executing innovative marketing strategies- in a highly creative and measurement focused environment.
The Marketing Manager – Retail and Men’s Brandis responsible for generating brand awareness and driving traffic, conversion and sales. In this role, the candidate will manage retail marketing initiatives across all J.Crew divisions (women’s, men’s and crewcuts) by partnering in the development and execution of marketing programs. In this role, the Marketing Manager – Retail and Men’s Brand will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners ranging from Store Operations, Store Communications, Visual Merchandising, Field Leadership, Brand Creative, Customer Insights, Digital Marketing, Content, Social Media, PR and Brand Marketing- to design, execute, measure and report on a holistic drive-to-store marketing plan each season. Further, this role will work to enhance brand identity and expand awareness of the J.Crew men’s businesses with a particular focus on North America. This role will be a key partner in driving overall business aligned with the seasonal strategy and connected to KPIs.
RESPONSIBLIITIES:
Retail Events, Services and Clientelling Support
• Evaluate current plan and enhance strategy around national (brand-driven) and local (store-driven) retail events, weighing in tiered options for GWP’s, offers and creative assets in order to optimize budget.
• Act as the voice of retail stores in promotional decisions, email meetings, creative reviews and cross-functional conversations as needed- to ensure stores receive adequate support and coverage.
• Partner with Brand Creative and Project Management teams to create marketing collateral for retail projects and events.
• Support local marketing efforts by developing the appropriate materials and tools for execution. Collaborate with creative to request and develop these tools and partner with store operations to communicate tool availability and usage. (ie. New Arrivals PDF’s, Customizable invites, etc.)
• Partner closely with the Brand Marketing team on partnerships to secure maximum impact for retail stores (relationships across hotels, restaurants, real estate, fitness, corporate events)
• Develop clientelling strategy around College Student and Teacher outreach, including a College Ambassador Program.
• Evaluate opportunities and service providers to enhance and better market our service offering (including but not limited to local courier delivery, open early/stay late, in-home appointments)
Store Signage and Seasonal Install
• Act as marketing lead for all elements of store install, promotional signage and window messaging, working in close collaboration with visual merchandising, brand creative and brand marketing to plan and execute monthly strategy.
• Develop and optimize strategy around promotional signage, taking into account clarity and impact to customer, on-brand messaging, fixture options, signage placement, and pricing flexibility for retail planning. Strategy should include testing plans and metrics for success.
• Manage overall budget for retail signage partnering with print production and project management to optimize spend.
New Store Openings, Conversions and Remodels
• Responsible for conceptualizing and executing New Store Opening strategies (within budget) to include opening events, local partnerships, direct mail and email support, marketing onboarding of store leadership team.
• Partner with store operations and field teams to manage customer communication and drive excitement around high profile store conversions and remodels.
• Collaborate with real estate team and landlord marketing teams to leverage mall media, VIP database and local marketing channels as appropriate.
Field Partnership
• Ensure all marketing initiatives are accompanied by a clear and comprehensive directive to guarantee effective rollout of programs in stores.
• Work with store operations and training team to schedule regular education sessions on marketing priorities (ie. local outreach, college program, event programming)
Budget, Measurement, Reporting
• Create, manage, track and report on all applicable budgets, project timelines and programs.
Men’s Brand Marketing
• Execute on the Brand Marketing strategy at the annual/seasonal/monthly levels for the J.Crew men’s division aligned with the business strategy in partnership with the Merchandising, Performance Marketing and Omni-Channel Brand Operations
• Align initiatives with Brand Marketing KPIs and track progress throughout the life of the programs
• Leverage customer insights & analytical tools to increase Brand Marketing ROI
• Partner in the creation and implementation of any marketing tools and collateral to support the marketing strategy across both the retail and direct channels
• Partner with the Public Relations team to develop and execute press outreach and events aligned with Brand Marketing strategy
• Partner with Social Media team to enhance men’s brand initiatives
• Partner with the Digital Marketing Team on email and digital strategies to ensure the brand marketing message and product strategies are delivered to our customer
• Partner with the Store Operations and contact center teams to ensure seasonal product messaging flows through into product knowledge tools, collateral and training for selling associates
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 4-6 years experience in marketing, preferably in specialty retail or fashion, with at least 2 years at a manager level
• BA in Marketing, Communications or related fields
• Strong leadership skills, entrepreneurial attitude and can-do mentality
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Analytical mindset who connects strategies with tangible outcomes
• Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively across categories within a constantly changing environment
• High-energy person who wants to make an impact on the team & business
• Highly collaborative
