Position Summary:
Supports the organization’s overall business strategy through effective management of Human Resources.
This position will be responsible for applying business knowledge and HR expertise; will provide a wide range of HR support, coordination and coaching. You will play a key role in the success of the organization by offering guidance on on-boarding, recruitment, terminations, performance management and HR best practices while facilitating positive relationships between associates and senior management.
Duties will include, but not be limited to, data entry management and employee file management for Timberland Retail employees. In addition, you will provide support and direction in the areas of employee relations, recruitment, on-boarding, off-boarding, benefits administration and hourly employment matters. Must be both an excellent listener and an excellent communicator.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage all data for employee teams within the Retail division of Timberland. Gather information, prepare reports and process various employment applications, enrollment, compensation changes and confidential forms and records. 25% of time involved; 5- Very High relative importance
• Implement and administer employee policies and provide high quality service to management on daily employee relations and performance management challenges. 15% of time involved; 5- Very High relative importance
• Maintain and distribute current and new employee information, policy and procedures manuals and other communications as appropriate. 5% of time involved; 3 - Medium relative importance
• Provide administrative support to the Senior Human Resources Manager in all areas, including employee relations, staffing, compensation, benefits administration and training as well as implementation of various programs. 15% of time involved; 4 – High relative importance
• Provide proactive recruitment support and maintain ongoing relationships with Timberland’s Retail division to ensure selection of the most qualified candidates. 10% of time involved; 5 - Very High relative importance
• Identify ways to improve policies and procedures and share ideas openly. Assist in training and providing direction within Retail as well as within our greater HR community. 10% of time involved; 3 – Medium relative importance
• May conduct and summarize internal and external surveys to gather information for policy development and planning. 5% of time involved; 3 – Medium relative importance
• May perform high level duties involving employee communications such as pre-employment screening, responding to routine questions on human resources policies and procedures and identifying potential issues and grievances. 10% of time involved; 4 – High relative importance
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned to support department objectives. 5% of time involved; 3 - Medium relative importance
Job Requirements:
• 3 - 5+ years' experience in Human Resources with Employee Relations expertise
• Bachelor’s degree in HR Management or related discipline
• Requires HR experience supporting Retail store employees
• Customer-focused attitude with a high level of professionalism and discretion
• Accountability for quality and timeliness of deliverables
• Must be driven to build solid relationships and partnerships with a variety of personalities and must possess a customer-centric approach
• Expertise in HR policies and procedures
• Strong knowledge of the hiring process
• Understanding of HR best practices and current regulations
• Familiarity of MS Office suite
• Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail
• Knowledge of Workday® a plus
