(NASDAQ: ASNA) is a leading national specialty retailer offering apparel, shoes, and accessories for women under the Ann Taylor, LOFT, Lou & Grey, Lane Bryant, maurices, dressbarn and Catherines brands, and for tween girls under the Justice brand.
The Associate Relations (AR) Manager provides centralized support and consultation for ascena’s associates and leadership. The AR Manager will provide policies and processes in a legal manner in keeping with ascena culture of providing an outstanding experience for the associates in a safe environment, consistent with applicable regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Develop standardized global AR policies, processes, framework, templates, FAQs, guidelines, etc.
• Investigate current tools and technologies used, and select global standard to be used across ascena
• Provide advisory support in the resolution of AR issues (disciplinary and grievances), and hands-on support of sensitive or complex AR issues/investigations
• Manages Tier 3 case management
• Conduct thought investigation to gather appropriate evidence and determine precedence
• Collaborate closely with Asset Protection, Legal, and Internal Audit on complex investigations
• Coach managers on AR issues; define skills training (e.g. conflict resolution and communication) and direct associates to relevant policies, documentation, etc.
• Gather feedback; Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of process
• Identify data requirements, metrics to measure, and reporting needs to track AR issues effectively
• Analyze AR reports to draw insights and develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives (policy, process, tools, automation, HR interventions, etc.) to evolve scope of team responsibilities
• Handle highly complex/sensitive investigations that require in-person support
• Documentation of AR issues
• Provide restructuring support to HRBPs
• Provides labor relations guidance to HRBPs in partnership with Legal
• Cross train with department Compliance Manager for collaborative coverage
Requirements
Required knowledge and capabilities:
• Strategic mindset with strong problem solving and analytical/synthesis skills
• Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential matters
• Demonstrated understanding of ascena’s business strategy and how it correlates to Associate Relations
• Ability to build deep and influential partnerships throughout ascena’s brands/segments/corporate functions
• Adept at flexible and creative problem-solving to resolve complex associate relation issues.
• Demonstrated knowledge in all applicable Local/State HR Laws
• HR Information Systems understanding and experience (Workday preferred)
• Clear understanding of regulations and legislation compliance requirements
• Ability to think strategically and objectively to effectively translate HR strategy into actionable and compliant policies and procedures
• Capacity to proactively interact with ascena leadership and associates to engage them in dialogue regarding people and business needs
• Ability to collect, interpret, and translate data as well as evaluate and use information to enhance HR services for the business
• Ability to communicate effectively with ascena leaders, managers and associates to successfully conduct investigations in a manner congruent with ascena’s culture and delivering the best associate experience possible.

• Strong interpersonal skills with ability facilitate consensus, drive decisions, and influence
• Proficiency in regulations and company policies, and research skills to keep pace with changing regulations
• Ability to weigh and manage priorities and multi-task
• Ability to travel, typically on short notice, (manager, specifically) to physically support complex investigations
• Expertise supporting and/or managing a centralized AR function in partnership with a third party provider (i.e., MSP) at another organization
• One consistent approach to addressing AR issues
• Enhanced associate experience
• Increased rigor around tracking of AR issues
• Data-driven approach to enhancing AR and reducing HRBP time spent on HR issues

Education/Experience Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, Business Administration or highly related field
• 5+ years of progressive human resources management experience with 3+ years of experience managing associate relations/compliance activities
Location is flexible, so long it is in one of our corporate Headquarters or Distribution Center offices.
