Responsibilities
General purpose of the position:
The Design Apprentice, Handbags is responsible for assisting the Design team in all aspects of the design process and provide support as needed. He or she will be exposed to the design and art direction of our outlet handbag collection. The ideal candidate is a highly creative individual who welcomes the opportunity to work in a highly collaborative team environment, and embrace change as the brand grows and develops.
Essential duties and responsibilities to include:
• Assist team in preparing for development of handbag collection
• Archive and document seasonal trend research
• Assist design manager in creating and updating assigned specs, building technical skills
• Partner with manager to develop computer & hand sketching skills to execute thumbnails and full scale product elements, including handbag, SLG, and hardware views
• Learn how to build group concepts
• Partner and communicate with cross functional teams as needed
• Organize and maintain seasonal materials for team: seasonal decks, factory specs, color palettes, etc
• Archive samples and references; track inspiration samples
• Maintain organization of design workspace
• Assist preparing/creating presentation boards for milestone meetings
• Executing CADS and mock-ups as needed
Qualifications
Skills and abilities required:
• Bachelor’s Degree in design
• Strong skills in Photoshop & Illustrator
• Strong technical drawing abilities; hand sketching abilities & illustrator proficiency
• Organized and detailed oriented, ability to multi-task
• Knowledge of construction a plus
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Highly creative with refined taste level
