Organizational Structure:
The Product Development Coordinator, Men’s Knits reports directly to the SVP, Merchandising & Product Development.
Responsibilities
• Request all costs once proto-tech packs are sent at the beginning of each season; follow up with factories to ensure timely turnover of costs
• Manage line plan style counts and work with the team to improve adoption rates from season to season
• Send out detailed emails to overseas vendors listing all styles/prices needed for Line Plan Validation (LPV) based on design line sheet
• Communicate all flash costs to Merchandising as they are received from vendors in preparation for Line Plan Validation (LPV)
• Partner with Merchandising for target wholesale & retail pricing for all styles to determine target costs prior to tech packs being sent
• Request updated target wholesale & retail prices from merchandiser on all styles adopted at LPV
• Request wear test garments for new qualities and review final wear test results with the team
• Collaborate with Merchandising and Design on cost saving options for high priced items in order to meet target margins
• Work with factory on substitute fabrics, trims, yarns and any suggestions that may reduce cost of a garment
• Partner with Technical Design to send counter tech packs for costing options between different vendors
• Manage seasonal Product Development workbooks to ensure all style components are in place for sample making
• Attend all fittings and communicate any changes / updates in fabric & trims to the vendors
• Work with logistics on all pre classifications of garments for proper duty application in costing
• Cross check freights costs with logistics to ensure proper freight costs are applied to cost sheets
• Attend weekly cross functional team meetings and discuss costing updates, construction and pattern challenges and issues that will impact the calendar deadlines
• Compare cost breakdowns received from vendors to the tech packs sent to ensure that costs are accurately based on what was requested from technical design as prices are updated and submitted by vendor
• Ensure all yields entered in the cost breakdown are accurate for fabric projections/booking
• Partner with Tech Design and Fabric & Development to ensure all Tech Packs & Bill Of Materials are consistent with fabric/trim specifications and costs
• Manage handover process for all styles booked by sales and ensure all costing, color standards and fabric information is correct and ready for bulk placement
Qualifications
• Must have three to five years (3-5) years of experience in Product Development
• Must have knowledge of knits, woven and basic sewing construction
• Must have an understanding of apparel classification/duty as well as garment construction knowledge
• Must have the ability to read and understand tech packs and pattern cards
• Must have knowledge of digital and screen prints
• Must have strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Must have strong time management, analytical and organizational skills
• Must have strong negotiation skills
• Must be an effective team player
