ModCloth is excited to be opening a brand new, permanent store in Washington DC this summer, and we are looking for an experienced Store Manager to help introduce our brand to the DC area! While you may be familiar with the title 'Store Manager', at ModCloth, we call ours a FitShop Manager!
ModCloth is an innovative, digitally native lifestyle brand committed to inspiring individual style and helping our community of customers be the best version of themselves. Our products are vintage inspired and feature feminine silhouettes and bright, colorful prints. ModCloth designs and sells its own exclusive line of private label apparel in a full range of sizes, and curates a unique assortment of fashion from independent designers.
The FitShop Manager is responsible for leading ModCloth’s store initiatives: paving the way and achieving results in an entrepreneurial fashion, hiring and developing an exemplary store team and for driving the business and customer experience to meet and exceed established goals.
The FitShop Manager will be strategic, creative, thoughtful, solution-oriented, and passionate about contributing at a high level to ModCloth’s offline (stores) growth. This person must take initiative to create, identify and communicate opportunities proactively. He/she must demonstrate finesse operating in a dynamic and evolving environment that requires building and executing store processes and best practices.
Leadership & Team Responsibilities:
• Lead by example at all times and proactively work to drive results by building an exemplary Customer and FitShop team experience
• Act with a sense of urgency and with initiative to set the pace for the team to achieve results
• Consistently communicate in a proactive and solution-oriented way, serving as a leader of offline growth to the VP of Customer Experience, Director of Store Operations, FitShop team and other business partners
• Foster a culture that is open, honest and centered around continuous improvement by providing and soliciting timely and actionable feedback during one-on-ones (with direct reports and leadership)
• Support the development and implementation of employee training and incentive programs that motivate staff to achieve financial goals and deliver a consistently exceptional customer experience
• Recruit, hire, develop and empower the FitShop team to deliver an unparalleled community and brand experience
• Demonstrate and enable ModCloth brand values, operational norms and culture best practices
• Directly supervise and develop FitShop leaders, and contribute to the coaching and growth of all FitShop team members
• Develop and implement relevant training materials with a focus on product, brand, KPIs, and job knowledge through performance, morale, retention and career-pathing
• Provide team development and execution of SMART/FIT goals, IDPs, and clearly defined roles and responsibilities for direct reports
• Effectively assess and manage workload to ensure the FitShop team remains focused on critical priorities with a balanced approach
Operational Responsibilities:
• Lead effective application and leadership of ModCloth selling and service strategies and techniques, including social media and online consistency strategies
• Lead FitShop Team to achieve operational goals; Manage all store processes, procedures and systems to execute typical day and typical week store accountabilities
• Manage FitShop team scheduling, zoning and payroll to meet staffing needs within budget
• Participate in the development of, and hold team accountable to store policies and procedures, visual, and service standards
• Manage and conduct regular meetings and training sessions with FitShop team
• Collaborate with relevant business partners to develop, document, and communicate operational processes and policies for the store. This may include but is not limited to: team leadership, in-store inventory management, general policy and procedures, employee roles and responsibilities, visual display, selling, service, KPI strategies, and customer experience.
• Partner with home office teams to develop FitShop marketing strategy, promotions/event calendar and oversee the execution in store including social media involvement
• Ensure that receipt, placement, pricing/signing of merchandise and all visual standards are properly executed in store
• Oversee daily store operations and manage scheduling and OPEX budgets to achieve KPIs, ensuring productivity and efficiency
Financial/Analytical Responsibilities:
• Attain established FitShop sales goals and KPIs. Demonstrate and lead successful business results by monitoring and coaching daily, weekly monthly service and selling accountabilities (KPIs, ModStyling, Appointments & Clienteling/Customer Acquisition)
• Accountable for store P&L, including sales generation, payroll/labor management, expense control and 4-wall profitability - work within parameters of established store budgets
• Recommend action plans to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities
• Meet and exceed FitShop sales goals through strategic and effective initiatives to develop a repeat community/clientele and by implementing exceptional selling service strategies and techniques
• Participate in relevant quarterly planning and budget/goal setting initiatives
• Manage store labor and staffing to established goals. Responsible for weekly schedules with a focus on maintaining appropriate staff levels dictated by business trend and demand.
• Maintain payroll budget by ensuring the optimal staff schedules and payroll spend drive sales and an exceptional customer experience.
• Monitor FitShop expenses, ensuring adherence to budget guidelines and oversee management of all vendors associated with store operations
• Track and communicate best and worst sellers in order to increase full price sales and productive store assortments
• Develop a process and oversee team to identify and communicate customer, team, product, inventory, and general business needs in a timely manner

Requirements:
• 3-5+ years leading a fashion-retail service and sales environment with success achieving KPIs, sales goals, and developing a team
• Capable of developing systems, processes and best practices in a high-touch, customer-centric, environment is required
• Industry awareness, networking, growth metrics, P&L management a must
• New store opening experience is preferred
