Major Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Develop focused and elevated strategies in the US to increase brand awareness, exposure and editorial coverage for Michael Kors Collection and MICHAEL Michael Kors (Women’s: RWT and Accessories)
• Work closely with worldwide press office and planning seasonal publicity strategies to coincide with worldwide initiatives, including presentations to the press, pitching stories about the brand, key products and full-page editorials.
• Create and execute press strategies for all Michael Kors seasonal campaigns and initiatives for short lead and digital press outlets
• Work with Global Events team to produce fashion shows and press presentations to plan and execute all seasonal Michael Kors Collection
• Plan and execute all MICHAEL Michael Kors press presentations and re-sees with the help of US Editorial PR team.
• Maintain relationships with top editors both in the luxury and contemporary space at US based digital and online outlets including magazine-dot-coms, news sites, emerging websites, and personal style blogs
• Maintain relationships with social media contacts at editorial outlets for amplification of major successes (credits, features, event coverage, fashion show, etc.)
• Assist VP of Global Communications and Senior Communications Director with pitching of corporate communications initiatives for US based press
• Concept and manage all special projects relating to Michael Kors including but not limited to: brand books, viral videos, personal appearances, store openings, annual fashion shows as well and promoting various experimental/experiential mediums and formats to ensure brand relevance in the increasing competitive marketing/communications space.
• Work with US retail and event teams on local strategies to create buzz and awareness in local markets
• Secure seasonal editorial coverage in national publications, regional publications and online publications while maintaining brand positioning as one of the leaders in the luxury and contemporary markets.
• Help manage agency that executes front of house responsibilities for all shows and special events. I.e. time lines, invite lists, mailings, RSVP’s and seating.
• Work closely with the Senior Director of Communications on launch of all special and capsule collections, feature stories and news stories.
• Develop, maintain and present measuring system of growth for both MMK and MKC
• Work with Global PR team to create a balanced, efficient, and measurable reporting system for digital/online placements that delivers consistent and reliable results across all markets using third party monitoring services
• Work closely with the buying and wholesale teams to ensure that they are aware of editor reactions that the editorial efforts correspond with their buys for both Michael Kors Collection and MMK.
• Create strategic Seasonal Buys for PR samples for Michael Kors Collection and MICHAEL Michael Kors
• Collaborate with Marketing team to ensure that PR goals and needs are incorporated in the business plan from inception
• Manage a team of two assistants, Stock Manager and Stock Coordinator and advise daily on ways to make the business more effective and efficient
• Oversee budget for Samples Orders and Global Shipping for the team
• Act as a PR liaison with Global Social Media team on all initiatives, activations, launches on global platforms, and other buzzworthy moments
• Work with social media and marketing partners on collaborative press strategies for partnerships, case studies, and alpha/beta launches
• Create and executive press plans on all social media related initiatives to marketing/social media press
• Work with external partners for press plans on collaborations, special products, advertising/social media opportunities, etc.
• Act as a point person for department processes (expenses, invoices, budget, company policies, etc.)
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree required
• 6-8 years of public relations experience and editorial experience
• Experience in the retail/luxury market
• Established industry/editorial relationships
• Ability to recruit, lead and develop a team
• Experience in managing budgets
• Global sensitivity and understanding of international markets
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
