TITLE: Associate Designer, Women's Footwear (technical innovation and fashion)
MISSION/ROLE: This position will ideate, create and develop inspirations, stories, vision and innovative product solutions that help drive the Cole Haan Women's Grand business which is the collision between technical innovation and fashion. This role will lead and partner through their creation of industry leading seasonal product which will be informed by their expert knowledge of technical footwear and popular culture including, style, sport and fashion trends, art and music.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
In conjunction with Design Leadership, design and develop seasonal Cole Haan Women's footwear which includes concepting, creating and technical development.
Create seasonal footwear collections through elegant and innovative product solutions for the Cole Haan Women's Grand category.
Work with the Women's Design team to produce CADs and presentation materials that effectively communicate product concepts and creative strategy internally.
Design and tech pack projects in conjunction with Product Development.
Partner with Product Merchandising in the creation of line plans, briefs and final product solutions through a continually expanding and evolving understanding of the business, consumer needs and market stories as applied to channel and product segmentation.
Collaborate and communicate with Brand Design, Brand Marketing and Product Merchandising peers to create strong market relevant product stories across disciplines.
Deliver on time product solutions in conjunction with the Product Calendar and business needs ensuring that all deadlines, line plans and deliverables are met.
Provide and present timely and relevant business, design, consumer and cultural storytelling in conjunction with specific projects and briefs.
Lead in the development of appropriate sell in tools to effectively communicate concepts and strategies.
Study and research current and future trends, maintain expert knowledge in design trends, production techniques and new technologies. Conducts research onsite and off to bring new ideas to the category and brand.
Special projects as assigned.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design or related field
• Minimum two years' experience in footwear design within athletic, fashion footwear product creation
• Must have a functional knowledge of Digital Design Platforms (expert 2D and basic 3D/Rhino abilities)
◦ Strong knowledge and understanding of color and material as it relates to women's fashion and footwear; coupled with a strong knowledge of market trends as it related Cole Haan product image and quality
• Must have traditional hands on footwear development skills (patternmaking, mold making, materials and tech packs)
• Must be flexible to both domestic and international travel
