Vans Public Relations Intern: Become the Newest Member of the Vans Family
The Vans Public Relations Intern assists the department with Public Relations efforts both within the company and to the public. The Intern will assist the PR department with editorial coverage, product placement in film and television, developing public relations materials (news releases, media alerts, product info sheets) for both Vans products and Vans special events. The PR Intern will assist with delivery of products to celebrities, musicians and athletes. Additionally, the PR Intern will maintain an inventory of samples that will be utilized for key product initiatives. Finally, the PR Intern plays an integral role in maintaining Vans intranet that communicates Vans Marketing Department activities to the rest of the company.
How You Will Make a Difference:
• Editorial Coverage - Assist with selecting proper products for coverage in print, online and television editorial pieces.
• Product Placement - Assist with delivery of product to Hollywood productions for television and film.
• Celebrity & Media Seeding - Assist with delivery of product to celebrities, musicians and athletes.
• Event and Product Publicity - Depending on experience, intern will assist with development of media materials and pitching to media.
• Vans Company Intranet - Maintain Vans PR site which catalogs Vans media coverage and makes it available within the company for viewing. Make updates to internal Company intranet informing Company of department happenings.
• Sample Management - Manage media samples within Vans office for easy distribution to media and entertainment outlets.
Skills for Success:
• Interpersonal and communication skills
• Must be capable of working within a team environment
• Strong organizational skills
• Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and e-mail programs needed with experience in graphics design programs a plus. Knowledge of Photoshop and Social Media is a plus.
Education/Experience:
• Years of Related Professional Experience: 0-1 yr.
• Must have at least one prior internship on resume
• Currently enrolled in an accredited education institution with a major in Public Relations, Mass Communications, Journalism or English.
• Participation in Sports Information Department, College Public Affairs, PRSSA or school newspaper and events is a plus.
• Interest in action sports, street fashion, art and music desired.
Special Requirements:
• Ability to lift/move product between 1-25 pounds daily.
• Ability to coordinate personal transportation to events and store locations for media requests.
