Position Objective:
The Digital Media Planner provides leadership to the Kohl's marketing department through the planning, execution and stewardship of national and local media strategies, data activation and budgets with direction from the Sr. Manager of Digital Media and the Director of Digital Marketing. This position is also responsible for fostering multiple agency relationships, overseeing media plan implementation, assisting in data activation strategy, plan optimization, reporting and insight development. The Digital Media Planner is essential to internal partnerships and ongoing support of marketing and ecommerce promotional activities for Kohl's. This position is focused on driving omni-channel sales through strategic data and media activation and serves as a primary daily contact to our digital agencies and internal partners.
Primary Responsibilities:
Strategic Media Planning, Execution & Stewardship
• Develop holistic media strategies to support key events or initiatives.
• Provide direction to agency partners for assigned projects and participate in the development of plan recommendations.
• Analyze media plans to optimize effectiveness through evaluation of performance and recommending opportunities to improve efficiency and impact.
• Manage accountability across partners for media delivery and optimizations, identifying opportunities to drive efficiencies.
• Evaluate agency work product to ensure accuracy.
Data Activation Strategy and Opportunity Planning
• Assist in development and ongoing evolution of 1P, 2P and 3P data activation strategy and process across digital channels.
• Partner with internal analytics team to oversee ongoing maintenance of Kohl's data management platform and onboarding solutions for data activation.
• Partner with social media team to develop and grow data activation capabilities across social platforms.
• Collaborate with digital agency partners to develop new tactics and ongoing changes to improve media performance, impacting both online and in-store sales.
Analysis and Reporting
• Evaluate current trends in the marketplace and provides perspective to leadership for evolution of programs.
• Maintain and communicate digital marketing performance reporting and insights.
• Partner with channel owner peer set to share results of omni-channel media programs and tests with appropriate internal teams, complete with go forward learnings and actions.
• Maintain forecasting and billing reconciliation process for media initiatives.
• Work closely with marketing analytics and external partners to assist in development of program attribution.
Qualifications
Required
• Advanced understanding of digital media industry.
• Proficiency across multiple digital marketing channels including Social and Paid Search – Affiliate marketing experience is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Marketing or Advertising and a minimum of 5 years digital marketing experience.
• Working knowledge of data management platforms and data onboarding solutions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred
• Self-starter with proven success in a fast paced work environment (retail experience a plus)
• Strong listening, negotiating and organization skills
Special Requirements
• Google Adwords certification a plus (not required)
