Popsugar, the #1 independent lifestyle media company for millennial women, is building up their NY freelancer post-production roster. We are looking for a highly organized and creative minded post-production manager to work on native and branded content across our sites and social channels.
We are looking for an experienced Post Production Manager with AE skills for our NY office. The ideal candidate will have very strong managerial and organizational skills and will be able to communicate effectively with the the team in New York & Los Angeles. Position reports directly to the Post Supervisor based in Los Angeles.
This role includes some AE support video content for our website and web series. The ideal candidate will have experience reading and managing post schedules, ingesting, file formats, codecs, containers and will also have general knowledge of syncing & multi camming. Please note that some night shifts may be needed from time to time. This is a full-time position.
Qualities:
• Confident problem-solver who is calm under pressure and is able to identify the gray areas in post production and proactively find appropriate solutions.
• Well versed in the post production process.
• Has a sharp eye for detail, able to spot problems in the workflow and solve issues as they arise while flagging team members in NY and LA.
• Excellent communication skills.
• He/She must be able to multi-task, be personable with producers, take direction from post supervisor, know how to prioritize workload and work under tight deadlines.
• Ability to handle and track a fast paced environment managing several projects in various points of production and post (from development through delivery)
• Ability to set clear boundaries with confidence and assertiveness.
• Ability to be discrete and maintain confidential information.
• Must be a resourceful problem solver.
• Experience working on branded internet content.
• An experienced self-starter with the ability to work without on-site supervision
• Ability to juggle multiple projects at once, track and manage schedules, while keeping big picture plus small details in order
• A general understanding of codecs, exporting, transcoding and converting video files
• A feel for the POPSUGAR brand, and a passion for trends and topics that matter to the POPSUGAR audience across pop culture, food, fashion, beauty, fitness and issues of interest to young women across politics and current events.

Responsibilities:
• Work with the post supervisor, producers, and editors to manage post schedules, assets, and deliverables.
• Manage the day-to-day workflow for post-production department in NY. This role includes ingesting and organizing footage, sending footage via Aspera to the team in Los Angeles, and help do minor troubleshooting.
• Liaise with IT, operation manager, production, post supervisor, AEs, and editors to create and manage post schedules, edit bays, assets and deliverables
• Organize, track, and schedule client note feedback review rounds and revisions
• QC and manage deliverables
• Track physical and digital assets
• Delegate and manage client requests
• Evaluate department needs and/or problems by combining and applying problem solving analysis and post workflow experience, then recommend efficiencies, procedures and directions
• Candidate will create and close Basecamp projects, log music and logos, tag and add metadata, archive projects, transcode 4k footage and create proxies.
• Provide Creative Cloud tech support and troubleshoot problems as they arise, source and file media requests.
• Work with Post Supervisor & Digital Media Manager in Los Angeles to ensure safe delivery of footage.
Requirements:
• Expert understanding of post-production workflow
• Experience with Server Systems, Basecamp, Frame.io a huge plus
• 5-6 years of experience in post production
• 1-2 years in a manager or supervisor role
• 1 year of experience as an AE a plus
• Knowledge of HD/4K & Social Video formats
• Knowledge of organizing offline and online editing post workflows
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud Suite and video formats and codecs
• Working knowledge of HD/4K cameras, HD/4K workflows, Premiere, After Effects, ProTools
• Expert level organization using Google Docs, email and Basecamp
• Intermediate understanding of Premiere Pro
• Flexibility of schedule is needed.
