What This Position Is All About:
The Training and Events Director will develop internal Lord & Taylor training and development programs to teach Cosmetics Beauty Guides how to sell, develop clientele and conduct events.
Collaborate with Cosmetics Merchants and vendors to develop and execute monthly events for the cosmetics department tied to brand product launches and total store corporate events.
Work with COEs to identify new opportunities to achieve sales plan through innovative training programs, events and support of new technology programs, e.g., SalesFloor, Clientele systems and Social Media.

You Also Have:
• High School diploma or equivalent
• 1-2 years minimum in Cosmetics training position
• Proficiency in utilizing available technology
As the Director, Training and Events, You Will:
• Total department Cosmetics sales
◦ Achieve total financial sales plan
• Training
◦ Develop L&T education curriculum for:
• Cosmetics Supervisors –
• How to lead, motivate, coach and develop Beauty Guide Managers to operate as leaders and develop their teams and help them achieve their sales goals
• How to effectively soft counsel staff when necessary
• How to develop relationships and lead effective business meetings with Cosmetics vendors
• Beauty Guide Managers –
• How to lead, motivate, coach and develop Beauty Guides and help them achieve their sales goals
• All Cosmetics Associates –
• How to engage with customers, sell cosmetics, complete skin care and make up consultations and develop clientele
• How to sell and assist customers interested in buying multiple brands
• How to make the sales goal every day and achieve pre sell for major GWPs and sales events
• How to conduct department events focused on multiple brands
• How to book appointment goals for events
• Other –
• Develop Train the Trainer programs for SMs and Supervisors to train their staff
• Develop new hire orientation / on boarding for all new hires
• Build a development plan to create product specialists by axis, e.g., Color Authority, Treatment Authority & Fragrance Authority.
• Build internal succession plan to maintain top talent
• Support all Lord & Taylor corporate customer selling programs and technology, e.g., Beauty Guide Service model, SalesFloor and Clientele by training vendors how HBC selling programs work
• Update and maintain all brand product knowledge training and elearning material seasonally
• Approve all vendor out of store formal training seminars for stores
• Conduct Beauty Guide training in key doors each season
• Events
◦ Attend seasonal vendor marketing meetings with merchants and collaborate to execute national events developed by vendors
◦ Develop plans to execute seasonal Trend Shows, SSDG events and other LT national events
◦ Collaborate with marketing COE to include Cosmetics in store wide events wherever possible
◦ Communicate customer appointment goals for events and manage process to ensure goals by brands, by store are achieved
◦ Develop event best practices and standards, e.g., set up
◦ Develop weekly animation programs for stores
◦ Work with visual COE to maximize use of all vendor and L&T visual collateral in stores
