Global Marketing Manager -Skateboarding: Become the Newest Member of the Vans Family
As the Manager of Global Brand Marketing – Skateboarding, you will manage brand specific marketing aspects of our Global Skateboarding program strategy and its execution: athlete programs and related activities, events and content management in the fulfillment of brand goals and objectives within budgetary guidelines. While focusing on one aspect of the action sports world, skateboarding, you get to attribute your strengths into supporting the skateboarders and establishing relationships that will last for a lifetime. You will do everything in your power to make sure that Vans is a part of the process that will lead these athletes to success. All we want to do is lend a helping hand in launching these athlete’s dreams to reality, which is why your role greatly impacts the purpose and drive of Vans.
How You Will Make a Difference:
This role is responsible for driving the emotional connection with our Skate audience by delivering meaningful content plans, nurture and cultivate Global leading athlete programs that permit a clear path to pro alongside managing global skate events and major brand activation strategies.
• Support Sr. Management in the development of the Global sports marketing vision for Skateboarding inclusive of our strategic brand platforms, athlete commercialization strategies, seasonal GTM plans, budgets and resource allocation.
• Support Sr. Management in partnering with cross-functional leads to deliver an Integrated calendar aligning brand, product, athletes, content and global activations.
• Establishing clear objectives, strategies, priorities, plans and process consistent with Vans business and brand goals.
• Develop deep partnerships with Regional marketing leads in support of their Skate marketing needs whilst understanding and delivering to regional nuances
• Maintain a close relationship with key consumer groups and work closely with functional global marketing leads and regional marketing leads to stay current on market trends.
• Manage the global Skateboarding marketing budget: plan accurately spending flow and drive monthly check points to ensure forecast accuracy.
• Lead athlete management through strategic vision ensuring Global athlete programs deliver to brand values, goals and priorities.
• Establish success criteria and create tools to evaluate performance of sport marketing initiatives.
• Maintaining optimal operational processes regarding Global Athlete development and brand content for commercialization in order to release effective promotion.
• Collection and communication of additional data to Sports Marketing leadership to inform Vans’ skateboard strategy of exciting and fresh ways to market our brand and its close association with skateboarding.
• Financial planning with respect to optimizing assets within budgetary limitations for contract planning, content management and travel expenses to ensure finances are allocated effectively.
• Building quality relationships and providing guidance to influence Regional Athlete Management teams in effective fulfillment of Global directives.
• Partnering with Regional Marketing and Athlete Management leads on planning and executing Global Athlete tours and appearances to maintain global recognition.
Skills for Success:
Years of Related Professional Experience: 7-10+ years
Educational/ Position Requirements:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field and a minimum of 7 years general management experience in the Sports Marketing field or an equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Experience working in the Skateboarding industry is mandatory
• Master’s Degree Preferred.
Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:
• Travel by air and overnight, as required 30% amount of time.
• Lifting and/or bending 50lbs amount of weight.
