Design Assistant - Karl Lagerfeld Footwear

Bass, among others, seeks a Mail Room Clerk to join its team based in New York City!
Responsibilities
Design footwear that re-establishes brand identity and brings exciting newness for both Fashion Athletic and Dress divisions under the direction of Design Supervisor and Merchandising.
Seasonal Preparation
1. Keep abreast of footwear trends happening in the marketplace
2. Conceive and present concepts according to design calendar
3. Sketch design concepts and details which reflect themes of the current season
4. General upkeep of design room (organization of prototypes)
Proto Phase
1. Assist in material developments: includes research and advising changes with factories as needed under supervision of Design Director
2. Assist in sketching tech pack drawings of constructions, outsoles and uppers for technical use as directed
3. Follow through development process for key projects and advise changes as needed under supervision of Design Director
4. Assist in communicating corrections of prototypes as directed
5. Prepare digital color palette, digital material swatches and shoe coloring templates
6. Update line art throughout development process incorporating changes and corrections
7. Color up line art according to material and concept direction
8. Coordinate shipment of prototypes during development, to and from factories
Market
1. Prepare visual line sheets for the season, organized by style and material
2. Mock-up color and pattern corrections as needed to communicate visual correction explanations
Qualifications
• Bachelor degree in Fine Arts
• 4 years of related work experience
• Knowledge of shoe construction, parts and materials
• Software proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Photoshop and Illustrator proficiency
• Sketching ability
