Overview
The Freelance Design Coordinator will support the Director, In-store Presentation with the design development, coordination, and execution of project deliverables relating to jewelry presentation.
Responsibilities
The Freelance Design Coordinator will assist and take direction from Director for preliminary design research, exploration, and developments. S/he will create design intent drawings for items relating to new jewelry presentation collateral. S/he will review vendor drawings and provide “red-line” feedback as needed. This individual will review and track vendor prototypes. S/he will test prototypes and provide timely and detailed feedback on samples to Production team and vendors. S/he will also organize the prototype “library”. S/he will oversee daily exchange with vendors and internal partners; follow up on email activity related to design projects. S/he will create and update list of approved jewelry presentation and in-store display collateral to support design project (CVM Display Catalog). S/he will attend meetings, take detailed notes and keep comprehensive decks up-to-date with most current design direction and information. S/he will ensure all work is delivered in a timely manner and to the highest standard befitting of a global luxury brand.
The Freelance Design Coordinator will liaise with Visual Merchandising team to understand form usage and current styling guidelines. This individual will partner with Production team as it relates to samples, vendors, approvals, and project timing. S/he will regularly maintain and organize the material and form sample closet.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
• 1-2 years professional experience in visual merchandising design or related field.
• Ability to develop concepts both verbally and visually. Studies both aesthetic and function of designs with critical eye.
• Highly organized and able to handle multiple tasks at once.
• Meticulously detail oriented and adept at design problem solving. Uses math and logic to influence design decisions.
• Deadline-driven with a strong sense of urgency and accuracy.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Drafting experience. Capable of reading and understanding floorplans, elevations, and technical design drawings.
• Fluent in Adobe Suite - InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator. Mac literate.
• Microsoft Office - Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint, Word.
• Comfortable in a fast paced work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in display, exhibit, or visual presentation design.
• 3D drafting and rendering – Vectorworks preferred.
• Strong artistic skills, including hand rendering and sketching capabilities.
• Proactive, flexible, enthusiastic and strong interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of a luxury retail setting; basic knowledge of jewelry, leather goods, and gifts.
• Knowledge of sourcing and production methods.
