Vice President - Inventory Management - Banana Republic Factory Store
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Own the development of quarter, annual, and long range business and financial plans for the Global brand
• Develop a deep understanding of global pricing architecture, and partner with Global Production to ensure average unit costs meet required IMU targets
• Partner with Merchandising to analyze key business trends, and provide top-down insight to inform sales and gross margin plans and forecasts
• Develop and support long range strategies that enable growth for the business
• Ensure allocation and pricing strategies align to Brand objectives
• Provide clear direction for seasonal investments to ensure that smart risks are being taken and financial targets are met
• Approve inventory strategies to ensure financial goals are met
• Identify business opportunities and risks in season through utilizing sales performance and marketplace information provided by market team
• Change future brand strategies in season where needed and provide appropriate and timeline direction to team in order to react quickly to customer and business trends.
• Model smart risk-taking in investment strategies.
• Work alongside GM & leadership team to deliver consistent business results.
PEOPLE / LEADERSHIP:
• Set priorities, foster teamwork and set expectations for global IM team
• Effectively manage and support the career development process of team to ensure job satisfaction and retention
• Actively participate in calibration review meetings within and outside brand. Develop succession plans by identifying and developing bench-strength
• Provide timely and actionable feedback and direction to direct reports to foster rapid skill development, to identify strengths, and to improve performance
• Lead goal setting process to meet brand and individual development objectives.
• Recognize and reward quality performance
ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS:
• Provide support and direction to cross functional teams by partnering and effectively communicating with other heads of Merchandising, Production, Company Planning, Store Planning, Visual, Marketing and Field
• Ensure IM function can actively participate in and lead a collaborative process
• Work with brand SVP of IM to share best practices
• Foster a collaborative, innovative, results-oriented work environment
• Ensure planning and cross-functional goals are aligned
• Lead teams to make and support timely, results-oriented decisions
• Intense focus on "the customer" while also having an insatiable desire to win
• Planning experience, forecasting expertise
• Price management and optimization while considering competitive dynamics
• Category/business strategy and management and long term planning
• Proven record of personal leadership and sound judgment, with a track record of attracting, hiring and retaining a strong team of professionals
• Forward-thinking executive with success as a leader and strategist in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
• Global experience working across multiple geographies and channels
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 15 plus years of inventory management experience. Individual should have prior experience driving business strategy with a strong leadership team.
• Strong knowledge and experience in planning , distribution and logistics as well as in strategic inventory management in apparel retailing with large volume, high quality business.
• Strong track record of success and the ability to influence management at all levels, as well as a demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team and be assertive in driving successful inventory management strategies.
• Possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Adept strategically and possess outstanding analytical skills.
• Ability to lead, manage and develop a team.
• Ability to craft and teach disciplined processes.
