Are you a web-savvy creative leader who cares as much about the team and performance as you do the brand? Are you most energized when driving the business forward through great creative? Want to do that in a friendly, values-driven, “t-shirt & jeans” environment?
If so, and you have the track record to back it up, read on!
Custom Ink, the leader in custom apparel for groups and communities, is all about bringing people together. That's what inspires our innovative online platform, world-class customer support, and award-winning work environment. With 1,500+ team members (“Inkers”) and ~$350M in revenue, we are passionate about the success and well-being of our team and have earned frequent recognition as a top workplace from such organizations as Fortune Magazine and The Washington Post.
We seek a dynamic, forward-thinking, and pragmatic VP of Creative to lead and inspire an evolving creative team to drive both revenue growth and long-term customer engagement. You’ll act as a creative thought leader throughout the organization as we grow our online business and develop a new local stores concept. We’re looking for someone with know-how and a strong track-record in design, photography, videography, UX, and messaging in both digital and local store environments. As the VP of Creative, you’ll be an important member of the leadership team for both Marketing and the Company overall, and you’ll be expected to build partnerships across the organization. That means bringing a point of view that goes beyond your functional expertise, with an enterprise mindset.
How you’ll make a difference:
You’ll play a critical role in furthering Custom Ink as a loved, admired, and enduring brand through creative that moves the needle. You’ll inspire the team to produce work that drives results, and you’ll be able to measure your effect on the business. What could be better than that?
What you’ll do:
In this role, you’ll champion the creative expression of the Custom Ink brand through value-added, break-through creative that dramatically improves the performance of our various sales, marketing, and customer experience efforts.
This is both a big picture and hands-on role - one that requires leadership in the following areas:
• Strategic (enterprise-thinking, courageous, omnichannel)
• Creative (on-brand, digitally-focused, outcome-oriented)
• Team (inspirational, fostering joy in measuring impact, instilling sense of purpose)
• Process (strong prioritization, efficiency, project management)
You’ll report to the SVP of Marketing, and your direct reports will include leaders in design, photography, videography, copywriting, and project management. You’ll be working with a great set of peers determined to become “the best damn Marketing team in the DC area.”
Your measures of success will be:
• Impact of creative on the business
• Bringing home the value of the brand
• Reaching beyond web to support local stores
• Team efficiency, engagement, and well-being
The track record and qualifications you’ll need:
• Proven creative leadership experience within a performance-based, B2C ecommerce business (omnichannel is a plus)
• Cross-functional leadership
• Experience building strong Creative teams
• Demonstration of game-changing brand interactions and engagement
• Portfolio of outstanding work which includes: ecommerce, brand, digital, video, social, print, and experiential
• Agile with high level of intellectual horsepower
• Highly coachable, candid, and receptive
• Authentic with good character
There are lots of attractive opportunities for someone like you, so here’s what makes this one special:
• Be part of a profitable, growth company that makes a positive impact for people and communities
• You can take pride in a company with great core values - The Golden Rule, Ownership, and Innovation
• You’ll be part of a fun, collaborative, and effective leadership team
• You’ll be working with terrific people who keep it real
