Background of the role:
This role provides strategic guidance and execution for consumer promotions across the Revlon US Mass portfolio of brands which include: Revlon Color Cosmetics, Colorsilk, Almay, Mitchum, SinfulColors, Cutex, Vinylux, and Fragrance brands such as Juicy Couture, Curve, Elizabeth Arden, Britney Spears, Elizabeth Taylor. This role will be responsible to develop promotional strategies that recruit new consumers, cultivate existing consumers, and amplify brand reach to engage consumers executing in traditional and digital ways to in an omni-channel approach.
The focus of the role will be creating the promotions strategy to support and grow the US Mass business (including: couponing, sampling, in-store execution, media execution and digital execution and social media).
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Consult and advise Brand and marketing activation capabilities for integrated consumer promotion strategies, tactics and best practices to deliver against business objectives. These activations include, but are not limited to: product sampling, couponing, in-store events, on-line.
• Develop and implement consumer promotion experiments, with focus on digital and mobile, to develop break through promotional activation capabilities.
• Develop and manage supplier partnerships to create incremental value beyond basic agreements, to progress organizational capabilities.
• Measure and share knowledge regarding the effectiveness and efficiency of consumer promotion activations in delivering against brand objectives.
• Develop, share and implement consumer promotion best practices.
• Develop internal relationships with brand marketing teams and cross-functional partners and the US Mass Sales team to understand business needs and develop integrated consumer promotion plan
MAJOR DUTIES
• Create and lead a Center of Excellence for Consumer Promotions: identify, scope and define Consumer Promotions workflow processes with clear ownership, deliverables and accountability across stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
• Lead and inspire the development, recommendation, and implementation of strategies that drive the business.
• Provide leadership and collaborate across the organization in pursuit of business objectives with key partners, including, but not limited to US Marketing teams, US Mass Sales, Finance.
• Lead segment budget development and monitor from concept to execution.
• Lead analysis and insights to determine best practices against brand and/or category review. Challenge and inspire others to uncover relevant and meaningful insights.
• Lead career management and development of direct reports (where applicable). Set a positive example for direct reports in teaching them to develop talent and managing the careers of others.
• Establish best practices and key performance indicators that can impact Consumer Promotions, identify key drivers and make recommendations for optimization and future implementation within the overall US Mass business strategy
• Manage relationshipus with promotional vendors across all brands and categories for the US Marketing team.
• Understand current marketplace practices for competitive activities within the Revlon US Mass categories.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree or MBA is preferred
• 10+years of developing and implementing integrated consumer promotions with a consumer product goods company or agency.
• Experience in developing, activating and managing incentives in traditional marketing and digital marketing including sampling, free standing inserts (FSIs), owned property coupons (email, website, social media), and digital promotion suppliers (e.g. shopping apps)
• Agency and project management experience
• Financial forecasting and management responsibility
• Must be a dynamic leader who is comfortable with productive change and skilled in leading a team in a face-paced environment.
• Superior knowledge of the business at all levels: product/portfolios, competition, trade, advertising, promotion, finance, market research, human resources, and elements of a marketing mix.
• Strong analytical and research capabilities to evaluate category opportunities and challenges and uncover new consumer insights.
• Collaboration cross-functionally in pursuit of brand/category and company business goals.
• Effective prioritization, implementation and monitoring of brand/category plans and initiatives.
• Strong communication skills to persuade others, articulate a point of view, and set direction.
• Effective supervision and training of direct reports in achievement of brand/category objectives.
Minimum Education Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree required
MBA highly desired
Minimum Years Experience Required:
10+ years relevant work experience in a marketing or product management capacity.
Management Responsibility:
• Two Associate Brand Managers
Responsible for oversight and influence on approximately $30MM in Promotional spending
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:
• Experience in the fragrance, color cosmetics, personal care or beauty categories a plus
• Marketing plan development experience.
