Gap Greater China is the primary growth market for Gap Inc., covering all channels of business in mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Our first stores opened in 2010, with two in Shanghai, and two in Beijing, and we grew our online presence concurrently, launching Gap.cn and Tmall sites. Gap reached 100 stores faster than its competitors and is on pace to deliver its first profitable year well in advance of the competition. Gap is represented in China by Gap Specialty, Gap Outlet and Old Navy brands.
The Sr.Director of Buying, Greater China will be a key member of the Greater China IM Leadership Team driving fully integrated assortment and investment strategies linked to financial Top Down Merchandise Financial Plans
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead team of buyers to deliver fully integrated investments at style / cc level tied to Top Down Merchandise Financial Plans for both Gap Specialty (full-price) and Gap Outlet
• Develop team of buyers to be completely connected and accountable to the Greater China Gap business and relentlessly focused on delivering what the customer needs
• Represent Greater China in Gap Global Operating Model discussions in NYC prior to Line Creation linked to the in-market briefs from the Director of China Merchandising, based in Shanghai
• Deliver against the Greater China P&L across all metrics (sales, margin, inventory turns, and EBIT)
• Represent the buying point of view during all hindsight and mid-sight meetings and align submission timing of China product requests with the Gap Global Market Insights & Product Strategy teams
• Lead the Investment Review meeting cross functionally with the Shanghai team
• Be the China lead in all Product 3.0 & Gap Operating Model evolutions including team integrations, system launches and training, and process mapping
• Develop intimate and real knowledge of the Greater China market through fully realized market visits (quarterly)
• Drive the bottoms up process for Greater China
• Drive the monthly open-to-buy process for Greater China
• Partner Closely with the Sr. Director of Inventory Management for China to align pre-season and in-season activities and responses to current business trends
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Experience:
Minimum 10+ years inventory management experience
7+ years people management experience
BA/BS required. MBA a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to travel internationally
