The Senior Graphic Designer for Girls Apparel, will collaborate with the cross functional team to develop and execute seasonal graphic design concepts that support the business financial goals and the evolution of the brand. This person will create, lead and inspire the team with innovative designs that are on trend and translated to our brand DNA while understanding the customer within the parameters of the cross functional process.
• Present research of trend at macro, industry and competitive levels, combined with knowledge gained from consumer insights to inform design process. Take these discoveries to inspire and lead team to develop innovative designs. Proactively seek out opportunities to maximize the business and elevate the product
• Collaborate with Girls Apparel team to create innovative graphics that are aligned with overall seasonal design direction. This includes working closely with Apparel team to develop and execute designs through to final production, tech packs, templating changes or modifications to existing artwork.
• Assist in managing Girls Graphics team calendar while considering global deadlines; lead and drive execution of artwork for seasonal graphic developments and ensure deadlines are met, obstacles tackled and solutions provided when challenges arise.
• Develop and inspire team to create new typographic and layout solutions
• Develop strong relationships with cross functional team members (Merchandising, Production and Design) through communication and problem solving
• Adapt all approved layouts to various formats
• Prepare inspiration/trend boards using creative methods
• Organize and maintain graphics library and sample archives
• Champion product design excellence in working meetings and formal presentations
• Full understanding of apparel graphic techniques
• Develop and grow junior team members
Experience and Skills
• Bachelors degree
• 6+ years experience with apparel graphics experience
• Vertical retail environment experience, strongly preferred
• Excellent hand sketching and painting techniques
• Adept at technical packages
• Strong working knowledge of techniques and production
• Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator and Microsoft Excel
• PLM experience, desired
• Excellent communication and leadership skills with an ability to positively influence partners and drive for results
• Excellent ability to innovate and have strong sense of color
• Strong project management skills and able to prioritize and shift gears fluidly for self and team as necessary
• Strong understanding of market trends with an ability to easily translate and adapt to brand aesthetic
• Ability to translate Design and Merchandising vision and marry with Graphics
• Strong creative problem solving skills to troubleshoot challenges
• Ability to anticipate, be proactive and partner to arrive at viable solutions
• Utilize traditional hand sketching and painting techniques in conjunction with Photoshop and Illustrator
