We are seeking a versatile, career-minded Human Resources professional who will welcome on-going challenges in a fast-paced Human Resources department. The Human Resource Director plans, organizes and directs all aspects of HR and payroll functions of the store including recruiting, training and employee relations. The Director must have a global approach to the store setting, ensuring total dedication to team-work, employee satisfaction, and corporate success.
Responsibilities:
Talent Acquisition and Staffing:
• Track and report weekly Open to Hire
• Create and implement recruiting plans to support current and future hiring needs
• Understand the position responsibilities and profile of each area in the store so that candidates can be recommended for placement accordingly
• Understand and continuously expands knowledge of the competitive job market
• Maintain an active network of retail professionals within the community
Employee Development:
• Partner with the GM to conduct leadership development
• Train all newly hired associates and managers on Company Orientation, Benefits, customer service and selling skills, policy and procedure, relationship building and clienteling, POS training, and Inclusion & Diversity. Conduct separate training modules for Executives with focus on coaching, performance management, and conflict management
• Implement Customer Service & Goal Programs
• Implement other training programs as directed by the Corporate Office
• Edit and approve all non-exempt performance appraisals in the store
• Manage the process of the Productivity Enhancement Program
• Assist in the execution of all employee terminations within the store
• Understand and ensure compliance with all state and federal employment laws
Compensation:
• Strategize annual budget process with GM (non-exempt) & update weekly FTEs
• Work with Managers to reconcile weekly payroll
• Process weekly payroll for all non-exempt associates
• Complete new hire, rehire and separation paperwork
• Complete Payroll Changes Notices for all staff and executive changes
• Maintain all non-exempt employee files
• Track benefit time (non-exempt & exempt) & maintain employee files (non-exempt)
• Complete non-exempt unemployment claims and employment verifications
• Work with supervisors to determine salary offers for non-exempt candidates
• Gather and communicate competitive compensation information
• Manage and facilitate process for all Leave of Absence claims/file (FMLA, STD, Workers’ Compensation, Military Leave, Personal Leave) in accordance with Company and state parameters
• Execute and suggest opportunities for recognition programs
Employee Relations:
• Pro-actively speak with employees to assess and resolve issues
• Partner with Corporate Human Resources to proactively address all employee relations issues and, if necessary, issue appropriate and timely corrective actions
• Conduct staff exit interviews and recommends retention efforts
• Conduct investigations into all charges of harassment and discrimination
• Maintain copious records and documentation of all counseling conversations with employees
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in related field
• Minimum five years of human resources experience required
• Excellent oral, written communication skills
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
• Experience using Kronos payroll and Taleo applicant tracking systems is a plus
• A working knowledge of state labor laws will enhance candidacy
