Associate Brand Manager (Associate Merchant/Buyer)
The Associate Brand Manager supports the Brand (or Senior) Manager in the development and the delivery of brand programs to market by delivering the financial goals set annually. The position supports the creation and execution of the Exclusive brand strategy for specific exclusive brands. The Associate Brand Manager supplies competitive intelligence, and trend observations and style analysis to Brand Manager. This role must ensure the smooth operation of the line building process and attention to detail is critical. At this level the associate brand manager should be able to synthesize information, reach conclusions and suggest a course of action. Lastly the associate brand manager should have a fundamental understanding of the full development process and management of the planning process. She/he must be a true student of the business and retail environment by living and breathing of what’s happening in the market and staying up to date on the competitive landscape.
On-Going
/Product:
• Assists & executes strategies to support the exclusive brands by creating TY/LY sku development plans that clearly identify key trends and articulate how they should be appropriately executed for each brand and when (i.e. trend adoption curve). Architecture should fully support the financial plans while maintaining clear brand positioning that fosters brand relevance.
• Manages development time lines, product completion dates and timely delivery of product
• Responsible for being Brand leader & staying abreast of global and domestic footwear trends, understand the consumer and translate this knowledge to create insightful strategy, communication and innovation. She/he should make recommendations for development ideas for existing and new products based on trends in the business and/or voids in the assortment.
• Serves as a cross functional lead communicator between domestic buyers & vendor partners
• Identify opportunities in the business and competition to ensure product needs are being developed & clearly identify an articulate brand DNA for each brand across all categories
• Helps implement and understands overall assortment strategy: Including styling, brand position, retail hierarchy, delivery timing etc. for each exclusive brand
Weekly
• Analyze selling and provide insights and recommendations by style to identify opportunities in future assortment.
• Work with Merchant team to influence & react to current business trend, discuss product insights and feedback on brands to vendor partners
• Timely creation and delivery of weekly reporting to: Management, Buyers, DSW Inc., Vendor Partners
• Calendar accountability- Manages product completion dates and timely delivery of product while holding internal and external partners accountable for milestone deadlines
Quarterly
• Prepares quarterly reporting/hindsights for buying and planning teams as necessary
• Presents assortment strategy to cross functional leadership at style review & leverages information from domestic brands to influence Exclusive brand assortment
Seasonally
• Participate in the development of annual and seasonal financial plans
As needed
• Responsible for partnering with strategic partners as needed with buying team on confirmation of all TOP Samples and responding back to vendor
• Collaborate with Trend team on marketing selection, sample ordering
• Creates and distributes ad hoc reporting as needed for exclusive brand
