Overview

The Benefits Specialist will be responsible for administration of benefit plans, including health and welfare plans. Ensure compliance with relevant benefit regulations in the US and Canada, and manage vendor partnerships.

Responsibilities
• Work closely with the Benefits Leadership to administer medical, Rx, dental and vision insurance, as well as life insurance, disability insurance and other benefits, for US and Canada.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with multiple benefits vendors
• Work with HRIS to ensure accurate and compliant administration of employee benefits
• Partner with the Benefits Leadership to develop educational benefits materials, resources and training
• Assist with development and administration of Benefits Annual Enrollment
• Recommend and assist in development of benefits-related policy revisions, processes and procedures
• Monitor legislation to ensure all benefit plans are compliant with regulatory requirements, including ERISA, HIPAA, ACA and other requirements from the IRS and DOL in the US. Also, monitor relevant Canada benefits regulatory changes.
• Partner with Benefits Leadership to monitor program utilization for effectiveness of design, administration, communication and vendor management efficiency
• Proactively monitor benefits best practices and trends and perform research and benchmarking as needed
• Partner with HR Team to work through and find constructive resolution to employee benefits matters, including providing customer service for elevated associate inquiries
• Provide support with projects within and outside the scope of Total Rewards as needed
• Provide customer service for elevated associate inquiries
Qualifications
• Two to five years benefit plan administration experience
• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or similar field
• Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) certification preferred, Group Benefits Associate (GBA) or progress working towards your benefits certification or designation
• Excellent communication skills, including presentation and written, strong customer service and ability to effectively communicate with external vendors and all levels of employees
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
• Self-motivated and ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
• Excellent project management skills with ability to multi-task, as well as work in an organized and efficient manner
• Intermediate-level skill with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access)
• Prior experience with HRIS systems (PeopleSoft preferred)
• Technical knowledge and understanding of plans and regulations, including ERISA, HIPAA, ACA and requirements from the IRS and DOL, as well as other federal legislation
