Area Marketing Director - Saks Fifth Ave Chicago
Role Mandate:
The Area Marketing Director is responsible for overseeing the creation and execution of a strategic marketing program across multiple Saks Fifth Avenue stores. Working closely with the store General Managers, store marketing teams and corporate marketing team, he/she will be responsible for driving the business and maximizing exposure for Saks Fifth Avenue in each local marketplace. The Marketing Director will operate with clearly defined return on investment goals for sales and client acquisition and development. This person plays a key leadership role in the store and will liaise between their own stores and the Corporate Marketing Team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Create and execute a strategic marketing program, across multiple Saks Fifth Avenue stores
• Regularly communicates and partners with corporate marketing team to support the overall Saks marketing strategy
• Oversees the development of Top Customer programs
• Provides leadership and direction to marketing managers across multiple locations
• Liaise between the General Manager and the Corporate Marketing Team to analyze store’s existing client base and define appropriate opportunities to acquire new and develop existing customers
• Maintains communication with store General Managers and understands key priorities of the store
• Manages level of marketing support in stores by maintaining communication with store leadership and prioritizing key priorities by store
• Develops strategic and creative events that drive traffic and increase customer sales
• Proactively analyze event results in order to refine and improve future events which continue to develop business opportunities and maximize sales
• Work with the store Leadership Team to maximize local event marketing dollars
• Communicate Saks Fifth Avenue initiatives to key regional media and secure credits for product, the Saks brand and local store teams
• Increase store visibility in the community via partnership with local publications, charitable organizations, and other beneficial groups
• Stays abreast of and maintains a deep knowledge of social media trends, strategies, platforms, tools, best practices, etc.
• Support General Managers in communicating corporate events to store teams and coordinates support and execution for all events to Saks Fifth Avenue standards
• Leads marketing team to deliver engaging and successful events
• Participates in store visits and drives action based on successes, gaps, and learnings
• Fiscally responsible for the marketing budget across multiple locations
• Effectively collaborates with key business partners across multiple functions to drive marketing strategy
• Utilizes store resources, such as Million Dollar Book, Journey to a Million, Brand Ambassador, and Fifth Avenue Club style advisors to drive strategies
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
• 5-10 years of management experience and a proven track record in leading a group of independent thinkers with successful end results.
• Demonstrated experience in strategic and creative campaign development, retail environment preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate people while driving company and store marketing initiatives.
• Proven ability to research, present opportunities and execute partnerships in the community that form the basis of an aggressive outreach/acquisition customer program.
• Ability to negotiate contracts and manage budgets.
• Ability to independently learn IT applications, clienteling tools and software proprietary to Saks Fifth Avenue.
• Focused on attention to detail, taking initiative, and creating a positive working environment.
• Ability to work well with others, as well as the ability to work independently to drive a successful event.
• Positive, high-energy professional with proven planning, implementation and management skills.
• Exhibit sound business judgment, demonstrated people management, and organizational ability.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in the areas of Marketing, Business or Communications.
