Executive Director, Global Corporate Citizenship and Sustainability
Description
The Executive Director will oversee the company’s sustainability efforts and the facilitation and implementation of sustainability goals. As execution of the strategy may change, the Executive Director will need to maintain flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee the implementation of the GCCS strategy, and oversee project management, facilitation and execution of goals carried out by the GCCS team, as well as in partnership with departments such as Global Supply Chain, Environmental Affairs and Safety, Packaging, Research and Development, Global Human Resources, and brand teams.
• Work in close collaboration with key internal business leads, including senior leadership and GCCS colleagues to implement strategy.
• Oversee adherence to budget, performance requirements and work plans to achieve sustainability goals.
• Develop strategic external stakeholder relationships and links to professional organizations.
• Provide leadership and guidance to the GCCS team, with strong emphasis on team building, coaching and developing direct reports.
• Serve as point of contact with other corporate functions related to sustainability strategy.
• Counsel and inform senior leaders on GCCS strategy and drive decisions.
• Maintain and drive flexibility among team in order to implement GCCS goals.
Candidate Profile
• Advanced degree in business and/or sustainability.
• 12 years of relevant professional experience from a top-tier consulting firm, NGO working with business, or a CSR/Sustainability, corporate affairs, or similar role in the private sector.
• Excellent understanding of generalist sustainability concepts, including social and environmental standards (e.g., U.N. Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, Carbon Disclosure Project, Global Reporting Initiative, UN Global Compact, etc.)
• Additional subject matter expertise across ELC focus areas a plus, including sustainability management, reporting and transparency, inclusion and diversity, and/or supply chain.
• Strong knowledge of social and environmental trends, especially those relevant to the beauty and luxury industries.
• Experience working in a multi-branded retail company or other industry with high-profile consumer brand.
• Strong track record in successfully overseeing sustainability programs and managing processes and projects through collaborative business relationships.
• Experience directing multiple, disparate projects simultaneously.
• Strong supervisory skills; providing others with a clear direction, motivation and empowerment.
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to coach and develop others.
• Well-developed interpersonal skills for high-level interaction with other functions and brands.
• Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills, including communicating and marketing sustainable efforts.
• Capacity to work and thrive in a growing, fast-paced entrepreneurial organization with a collaborative environment.
• Highly analytical, can synthesize information and offer recommendations/solutions.
• Ability to undertake business travel 25% of time or more.
• High ethical standards and commitment to core values of leadership, respect, and integrity.
Qualifications
• B.A; advanced degree in business and/or sustainability.
• 12 years minimum experience
