Oversee preparation of all federal, state, and local income tax returns and related tax audits, researching tax issues, monitoring tax law changes, assisting in the preparation of tax workpapers, tax planning and review of tax credit and incentive opportunities, and assisting with other projects and related functional areas.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage the preparation and review of applicable federal, state, and local income tax returns including required disclosures and documentation.
• Manage state and local income tax audits and support IRS CAP examination.
• Assist in the implementation of 2017 federal tax reform.
• Assist in updating tax technology and procedures to improve the efficiency of the department.
• Research tax issues for areas of responsibility.
• Support implementation of domestic tax strategies related to corporate initiatives and changing income tax landscape.
• Monitor state and local tax law changes and analyze impact on tax returns and the tax provision.
• Prepare and review ASC 740 calculations and related disclosures for the income tax area including footnote disclosures.
• Review federal income tax accounting methods to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Review tax workpapers, apportionment schedules and tax returns as necessary.
• Manage the quarterly fixed asset review as well as review of the fixed asset book/tax adjustment for the tax return.
• Manage communications to various agencies regarding tax inquiries/tax notices.
• Review schedule of tax contingencies for the income tax area.
• Properly maintain legal entity accounting, intercompany transactions, and transfer pricing documentation for legal entity structure.
• Ensure 404 compliance and documentation for areas of responsibility.
• Proactively partner with Company associates to address opportunities and risks related to current business operations as well as any future changes.
• Development and training of Analyst(s)- Income Tax.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field. Advanced degree preferred (Master’s / MBA).
• CPA preferred.
• Minimum of 6 years of federal and state income tax experience.
• Public accounting experience preferred.
• Prior tax compliance and audit experience is preferred.
• Excellent research skills.
• Prior managerial/supervisory experience.
• High degree of proficiency with standard Microsoft Office products and Microsoft Windows.
• Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team.
• Ability to work in a youthful, fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
• Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
