POPSUGAR is looking for a fast-moving, internet-obsessed Social Media Editor to act as the creative and strategic lead of our Social Team. Our ideal candidate is a hyper-creative lifestyle and pop culture junkie with a healthy habit of checking social media every 30 seconds and a knack for leadership. RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Create timely, original social-first content based on trending pop culture and lifestyle topics, including ideating cutting-edge formats and visuals, and writing clever, on-brand copy
• Set creative strategy across multiple social platforms and manage the Social Team to implement, ideate, and execute
• Partner with VP, Audience to set and execute overall social growth strategy
• Collaborate with Editorial Leads, Video Producers, Design, and Marketing to set and execute overall content calendar
• Partner with Design to set and execute social visual strategy
• Provide regular platform metrics and competitive analysis to evolve strategy and develop content recommendations
• Works with Partnerships Team and Talent Team to help execute social-first partnerships with publishers, brands, and influencers
• Partners with Sales & Marketing on pitching and executing sold social programs
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Approx 5 years experience in social media and/or relevant editorial experience
• Passion for and experience creating social-first content, with a proven ability to think strategically about creative
• Experience editing and mentoring junior team members
• A strong knowledge of the social media landscape
• A creative and visual thinker with strong analytical skills
• Strong writing and communication skills
• An ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment
• Strong understanding of the competitive women’s lifestyle publishing space
• A familiarity with and passion for the POPSUGAR brand
• Diverse interests and open mind to new trends, influencers and content
