Description
We are seeking an experienced communications professional who can lead and drive our communications and engagement strategy working with our sustainable business and innovation teams. The position is responsible for developing and leading strategic communications plans to build authentic, long-term relationships with stakeholders and thought leaders.
This position works directly with teammates and leadership across sustainable business & innovation, geographies, sustainable manufacturing and sourcing, and the broader communications function.
Knowledge of and experience in global corporate communications, stakeholder engagement, sustainability would be highly regarded. Key competencies of the role include having a solid understanding of corporate communications, excellent written and verbal communications skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
You'll need to be adept at creating strong communications strategies and plans, have the ability to synthesize technical and specialized knowledge into a compelling story, incorporate input from a diverse range of internal stakeholders, and then lead and drive implementation.
An ability to work within a global organization, contributing to cross-functional plans and building stakeholder relationships would be valued. A passion for sport and knowledge and expertise in digital and social media is preferred.
Key responsibilities include:
• Proactively foster and maintain authentic and strategic stakeholder relationships.
• Developing innovative and targeted communication strategies, messaging and tactics that engage and deliver against Nike's sustainable business strategies
• Selecting appropriate external forums to convey Nike's story and preparing Nike spokespeople for speaking engagements
• Creating briefing materials for executives, tracking timelines and budget and managing internal and external approval processes.
• Ability to understand highly technical and specialized knowledge and build into compelling story.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in journalism, PR, English, communications, business, or related discipline.
• 10+ years professional experience in high profile corporate communications roles supporting globally branded organizations.
◦ 2 additional years of experience required in lieu of a degree
• Proven ability to communicate plans across a complex matrix on a corporate, regional and functional basis.
• Significant experience initiating and driving the ideation process contributing meaningful, innovative strategies to the business.
• Successful experience in working effectively at senior level brand management and a proven ability to provide guidance and direction to peers.
• On the ground media/PR experience with ability to communicate clearly as a company spokesperson. Senior agency experience is preferred. Understanding of evolving consumer communications environment and digital landscape.
• An ability to work within a global organization, contributing to cross-functional plans and building stakeholder relationships would be valued. A passion for sport and knowledge and expertise in digital and social media is preferred.
