DIRECTOR, NORTH AMERICA WOMENS CATEGORY MERCHANDISING
For Nike merchants, everything begins and ends with the consumer. The Nike Merchandising team understands consumer needs and market opportunity to create the right product mix for marketplaces around the world. They blend art with science to bring Nike’s category vision to life in all retail environments from stores to online. The Merchandising team has the unique ability to see beyond trends to identify what’s next and deliver the right product, at the right price, in the right places, at the right time.
As a Director, Geography Women’s Category Merchandising, you are responsible for driving assortment direction and strategy focused on category consumer right assortments to ensure a productive, profitable, and integrated women’s line across the Geo. You will lead a cross-functional team towards a one team philosophy through partnership with the global to deliver well- informed assortments to the consumer, with a focus on ensuring Women’s shows up as distinct, differentiated, consumer right proposition as one Brand for Her.
Key Accountabilities include:
•Responsible for a developing and leading a Geo cross-functional team to determine Consumer-Led Capacity, encompassing the Geo Category and Marketplace strategy and associated Geo seasonal category line plan in partnership with Geo Marketplace and Integrated Account Teams
•Oversees the selection of Category marketplace insights
•Translates market insights and feedback to Global Category Merchandising & Global Brand Merchandising to inform the line plan
•Ensures strong partnership with Category, Brand, City, Strategic Account and Marketplace Merchandising teams to develop category channel/tier assortments that meet the needs of consumers and take them to a new place.
•Travels within Geo to ensure a consumer first mindset and effective leadership and collaboration across goes and key cities.
Key Deliverables include:
•Works with Geo Merchandising Business Ops & Geo Strategic Account Merchandising teams to document Consumer Led Capacity, ensuring the Geo line construct meets the needs of the Category, Marketplace and fulfills KPIs (i.e. revenue target, margin target and style count target).
•Sets category seasonal assortment strategies within Geo.
•Sets seasonal product pricing strategies within Geo.
•Oversees creation of channel/tier edited offers for the women’s line, specific to Geo.
•Determines allocation strategies for capacity constrained products within Geo.
•Participates on behalf of the Geo Category in Pre-AF Gates (i.e. color alignment moments, PRO, etc.) to ensure product line meets the needs of the Marketplace. If gaps remain, makes recommendations for line adds (via Geo or Global Express Lane).
Qualifications
·Requires a Bachelor’s degree or additional 2 years of experience in lieu of degree
·At least 10 years’ experience in merchandising, product creation, and or retail, in a vertical or wholesale environment
·Footwear, apparel and/or equipment merchandising experience
·Proficiency in retail and profit based metrics
·Assortment planning experience
·A keen understanding of the Nike consumer and marketplace
·A high taste level for product
·An ability to employ retail acumen and proven storytelling capabilities
·An ability to respond with speed and agility
·Candidate must be willing to travel 10-20% of the time
