Buyer
Free People, Retail, Direct and Wholesale
Objective:Responsible for creating an exciting and timely product assortment for the retail, direct and wholesale businesses that meet or exceed the sales volume and profit for the department.
Responsibilities:
• Exceeding sales and profit plan for retail, direct and wholesale business
• Comprehending financial indicators and manipulating numbers to reach sound financial conclusions and making solid recommendations
• Driving business through well thought out strategy and ability to react to customer needs
• Working well with cross functional partners to effectively drive business
• Understanding the retail and wholesale calendar and ability to maximize efficiency of calendar for retail, direct and wholesale business
• Leading and growing team of direct reports through motivation, coaching and training
• Understanding customer, competition, and ability to think creatively to seek business opportunities
• Working closely with planning team to distort buys to maximize business
• Managing the financials of business: OTB, IMU, MD, Closeouts, Inventory and receipt plan
• Working with team to develop product category and assortment plan appropriate for business
• Partnering with the design team to hold high standards for the quality and fit of merchandise
• Using size and color analysis to discover opportunities and drive business
• Partnering with the allocation/planning and sales team to thoroughly understand our store and wholesale customers (department, specialty, international and ecommerce) and develop assortments to best fit their needs
• Analyzing assortment mix (private label, wholesale, and market) for retail, direct and wholesale business

• High level of organization and experience delegating and directing the daily activities of a team
