The Manager, Advanced development will lead research initiatives to further the development market leading process creation, which drives brand competitiveness through product and technology leadership. This individual will be responsible for effective strategic planning, execution and coordination of all projects and activities with regards to engineering and development of advanced footwear technologies.
Key Accountabilities
Project Management
• Clearly communicates Reebok Future's long and short term goals both within and outside the category team
• Lead conversations and enroll team members to execute against corporate and Reebok Future's goals
• Manage the project loads and process of multiple quarters simultaneously
• Identify potential problems early and establish clear plans to correct
• Plan and coordinate short, mid and long term projects and development plans
• Develop creative and practical solutions, which can be used to test function
• Deliver finished product in a timely fashion
• Establish clear engineering best practices for new concepts
• Optimize engineering constructions and materials to maximize fit, function, and comfort, while minimizing cost
• Successfully commercialize product lines for on-time manufacturing
Communication:
• Communicate both up and down within the organization in a manner that allows complete alignment and execution of Product creation process goals and objectives
• Establish alliances with key manufacturers, research facilities, and development partners
• Work with Reebok Future's management to help establish and frame up product briefs and communicate this information to the Far East (FE) Development Centers/Advanced Concepts Development Center and/or outside consultants and contractors
• Drive the category product review meetings focusing on product enhancement
• Clear communication of development package to FE (key product attributes, consumer benefits)
• Work with Research to identify fit & wear testing needs early to allow for proper wear testing
• Work with the FE to proactively schedule commercialization, technology meetings, and samples for wear testing
• Champion and train Associate Product Managers
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
• Has a feel for styling, product cosmetics and the Reebok consumer, in turn, helping to drive the direction of the overall product direction (Product Eye)
• Work well in teams, in the effective management of efforts to support product goals (Research, Engineering, Design)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for both local and global discussions regarding product engineering and project management
• Ability to work with all levels of management and have good judgement in the application of established problem solving to complex issues related to define manufacturing criteria.
• Ability to understand Reebok's business objectives and make decisions to meet them
• Ability to leverage technologies and build financial models is critical.
• Must have the ability to interpret data results and make decisions about how to progress concepts to confirmation.
• Must be capable of understanding costs of manufacturing and componentry from various methods (including all types of moulding, stitching, and assembly techniques)
• Must be able to lead groups and individuals in highly creative and fast paced product creation
Minimum Qualifications:
1. 8+ years progressive experience in sport related Research / Manufacturing/Concept Design/ Product Development or equivalent experience in a related academic environment
2. 2+ years’ experience in project management with both internal and external teams
3. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Industrial Design, Manufacturing or a related field
