The Planner/Buyer will be responsible for executing the MRP production plan as determined by the Supply Chain Organization in accordance with Internal Manufacturing capacities and resources. This includes procurement of all externally sourced components (sundries), ordering all internally made components (castings/sub-assemblies, stampings) and the creation of the production schedules to ensure the goals of on-time delivery and inventory levels are met for each facility. Planner/Buyer will also be focused on facilitating the product qualifications; initially this will be the primary job responsibility.
Responsibilities
• Develop and execute the production schedules in a timely manner to meet customer demand and delivery goals for both component and Finished Good level production. Review and execute MRP messages for purchased components as well as internally manufactured product on both a component and finished level.
• Create and maintain a valid capacity requirements plan for both internal manufacturing as well as external subcontracting suppliers which supports the demand requirements.
• Issue purchase orders for production materials and subcontract Suppliers.
• Responsible for managing relationships with specific vendors and serving as the organization's point of contact. Provides support to the organization for problems with vendor products and services.
• Review and process MRP messages for Component/Finished Good work orders based on an established MPS from Cumberland Management and the Supply Chain Organization. This includes monitoring the consistent flow of materials from procurement through manufacturing and shipping.
• Maintain appropriate inventory levels and disposition the slow moving inventory report on a monthly basis. Ensure data integrity of all product information.
• Lead the production planning process on site, communicating with manufacturing and all other support functions to ensure the delivery schedule is met. Collaborate with manufacturing and all other support functions and aid in the development of action plans when schedules are not being met.
• Build partnerships within and across departments to promote efficiency and create a supportive work environment
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Business or Supply Chain or equivalent experience
• 3-5 years' experience in Production Planning
• Purchasing experience a plus
• MRP-System experience in a Supply Chain Manufacturing Organization
• Strong background in a Lean-Flow Manufacturing environment
• Strong mathematical and organizational skills
• Demonstrated leadership skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Excellent Communication and Customer Service skills
The following qualifications are preferred, but not required:
• APICS Certification or currently pursuing
• Knowledge of JD Edwards business system
• Inventory Management Skills
