The position of Photo Art Director leads all the creative materials produced for Gap Brand both internally and externally. This role must exhibit a true passion for retail as well as being a true design thought-leader. As the guardian of the brand aesthetic and integration across vehicles, the Art Director will be focused on leadership of the creative department and delivery of materials for in-store, email, promotions, direct and special projects.
Role and Responsibilities:
·Drive team to creative excellence with on-brand, innovative photography
·Collaborate with peers to concept seasonal campaigns that support the overall branding and marketing objectives across all mediums including store windows and signage, site and emails.
·Plan, concept and execute elevated fashion and still-life photography, and video content. Direct the vision from concept ideation to post production including proposing photographers, directors, stylists and casting, pulling relevant image references, and providing clear post-production direction.
·Ability to work closely with senior management to guide department needs
·Ability to work within the established budget and time constraints.
·Collaborate with key cross-functional partners and external agencies to ensure that concepts meet business needs and ensure strategic and tactical creative objectives are met.
·Research competitive landscape across global markets to identify seasonal trends, fashion trends, artistic inspiration and references
·Lead, inspire, and develop a talented studio team
·Enforce and evolve the brand voice and identity \ over time.
·Deliver exceptional creative in all vehicles, on time and integrated with seasonal briefs.
·Direct and collaborate with off site photo art directors.
Qualifications:
• Experience with digital photography and editing software
• BA Graphic Design or related field.
• At least 5-7 years senior level experience as a graphic designer or art director in a fashion, retail and/or advertising environment.
• Strong creative background; a minimum of 5 years of retail, photographic direction, and art direction
·Expert knowledge of design-related software (Illustrator, In Design and Photoshop).
·Good interpersonal, management, and presentation skills with an ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
·Working knowledge of photo shoot production process.
Working knowledge of ecomm photo studio processes
