To support our global business, Luxottica operates multiple manufacturing and logistics facilities across North America to support our retail stores and wholesale customers.
GENERAL FUNCTION The Director of Transportation owns responsibility for all North America import/export and domestic transportation lanes across the brand portfolio. Ensures timely and accurate delivery of imported and domestically sourced products from Europe and Asia to North American manufacturing and distribution facilities, retail stores, wholesale customers and consumers. The Director is accountable for ensuring the highest level of on-time delivery service, cost effectiveness and store/customer engagement based on our brand and/or business unit's defined strategies.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversees the effective and efficient transportation of goods to customers.
• Leads and/or supports functional areas of customer delivery, transportation planning, sourcing and freight audit & payment.
• Manages third party freight payment processes and cost allocation tracking that provides visibility to the overall efficiency of the organization.
• Creates, monitors and reports on the critical KPI’s that measure the performance of the transportation network against agreed upon service standards; implements process changes that correct deviations from expected results.
• Assists distribution centers and stores with import/export and domestic shipping issues.
• Manages and monitors the Wholesale business unit's Direct Shipment program in NA.
• Maintains all US Customs Compliance requirements.
• Represents North America while collaborating with Italy Logistics Purchasing to execute the annual International Air/Ocean RFQ for NA lanes.
• Establishes policies/standards/procedures and rates in administration of carrier/LSP contracts.
• Manages and monitors all NA Import and Domestic transportation expense.
• Implements carrier/LSP contract, schedule and spend allocation changes for North America.
• Closely monitors all carrier performance on cost, on-time delivery using multiple reports.
• Manages yearly cost reduction initiatives and maintains budget project tracker.
• Monitors and manages small parcel contracts; leads annual negotiations and RFQ’s.
• Monitors and updates Luxottica's Customs Compliance Manual.
• Maintains records of all Powers of Attorney, and import bond records.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in engineering, supply chain or business administration
• 8+ years in Logistics, transportation and/or Supply Chain operations
• Experience in leading and managing a high performing team
• Experience in managing high volume small parcel spend
• Distribution Center Operations experience to understand basic shipping requirements and capabilities
• Proficient in MS Office suite of software (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
• Solid understanding of the Transportation industry, benchmarks, and best practices
• Excellent supplier relationship management skills
• Knowledge of contractual structures and agreements
• Detailed understanding of transportation budgets and financial metrics
• Sound understanding of supply chain management processes
• Knowledge of regulatory and legal requirements for transportation
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Master’s degree (MS or MBA)
• Global logistics knowledge and experience
• Prior work experience in SAP environment
• Experience with import of medical devices and FDA regulations
• Basic knowledge of SAP or Manhattan Associates WMS
• Advanced Transportation operations and customer experiences
