BUSINESS/LOCATION:
New York & Company
OVERVIEW:
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for all aspects of the indirect purchasing function for the corporate office, home office, and the stores network.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Coordinate, source, negotiate and purchase small to mid-size expenditure supply/non-supply materials and services for Brand Headquarters, DC and/or stores
• Categories include office supplies, print, POS materials, bags, janitorial supplies, gift cards, fleet, & travel
• Purchasing responsibilities to include:
◦ manage inventory levels of NYCO proprietary items and store supplies
◦ investigate alternatives, spec changes, and value add options
◦ provide robust data analysis of spend volumes and patterns for optimization of purchasing and consolidated buying
◦ provide total cost of ownership analysis and recommendations for savings
◦ detail part specifications to establish quality standards
◦ provide supplier evaluation and recommendations
◦ prepare and distribute bids / RFP’s as needed to ensure best fit
◦ negotiate and implement new suppliers
◦ manage the supplier relationships to ensure quality and on-time deliverables
◦ Issue Purchase Orders and process invoices through Concur
◦ Liaison between vendor and end users on outstanding orders
◦ Project management and adhering to tight deadlines
◦ track monthly savings
◦ Handle special projects for Sr. Director of Purchasing
Required Experience:
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Retail knowledge or technical purchasing a plus
• 5-7 years of Purchasing related experience
• Excellent negotiation, math, analytical and organizational skills required
• Strategic thinker with strong decision making abilities
• Must be capable of handling multiple tasks in a deadline driven environment
• Knowledge of procurement processes and procedures
• Analytical and negotiation skills and techniques
• Management skills in assessing business issues
• Action oriented, strategic agility
• Project management skills. Work within the details of a project while maintaining perspective on the overall purpose.
• High awareness of external environment: competition, supply, technology, best practices.
• Fluency in spreadsheets (Excel) is required
• Outstanding communication skills to effectively work with internal customers and outside vendors and all levels of management is essential
EDUCATION:
• Bachelor’s degree required
• CPSM a plus
