Project Manager, Retail Analytics
Become the Newest Member of the VF Family
The project manager will be responsible for all aspects of managing analytic projects from conception through business integration. This includes gathering stakeholder input from project design to execution/integration, supporting data-architecture development, effective planning, excellent communication between stakeholders and internal/external partners, ongoing project assessment and guidance. He/she will be responsible for the documentation and oversight of business requirements; involved in technical discussion and the subsequent development of technology/analytic solutions. This position will also be a partner in developing VF’s analytic roadmap and future program design.
This individual will operate across a highly-matrixed, multinational organization and help drive the organization's strategic advantage through design, execution and integration of analytics across VF Corporation’s brands. The successful candidate will have an inherent passion for project management, communication/coordination with diverse stakeholder groups, as well as data and data driven thinking.
How You Will Make a Difference:
• Manage lifecycle of projects that range in scope, budget and team size, involving varying levels of risk and complexity
• Build relationships with outside technology partners to ensure effective/efficient integration
• Provide technical leadership for analytics projects and support work
• Support development of data-architecture to support analytics team
• In partnership with project manager, develop and socialize business case for proposed solutions/engagements
• Evaluate business work requests, gather requirements, and act as SME · Work with the business to gather and document clear business requirements · Develop Functional Specs and User Acceptance Criteria
• Estimate, plan, and schedule work efforts · Create High Level Plans and Estimate effort / Costs · Define and present project options with pros/cons to project team and/or Management · Create Detailed Project Plans encompassing ALL needed resources
• Develop plans and or Pilot/Phased solutions when appropriate · Create, or assist in, developing the OOM, RFP, SOW, WEA, RFS, etc.
• Participate in the evaluation and selection of RFP Service providers
• Coordinate and effectively communicate with all project resources and teams · Assist in the definition of the Project Governance, document and publish it · Hold Project Kickoff and facilitate any needed project update meetings · Submit regular agreed-upon project updates to project team · Communicate with outside service providers to ensure on-time/on budget delivery
• Monitor and report on Projects; Escalate when necessary · Monitor project to ensure it is proceeding as planned and is on schedule/budget · Update Clarity, Jira, etc. allowing for PMC/management reporting · Review and challenge (if needed) time estimates from solution providers · Escalate issues to management that can/are affecting on-time/on-budget delivery
• Ensure solution quality and effective delivery of solution to the business · Perform/coordinate functional testing of the deliverables from service providers · Coordinate the review of Test Plans and Tech Specs provided by service provider
• Facilitate User Acceptance, testing and signoff · Ensure updated user documentation is provided to users along with proper training · Define Cutover Plan, coordinate its execution, and schedule PGL support
• Mentor other Analysts to prepare them for leading larger projects
• Excellent documentation of business and technical requirements
Skills for Success:
Years of Related Professional Experience: 5+ years
Educational/ Position Requirements:
• 5+ years of experience preferably in managing/supporting data and analytic projects, with demonstrated ability to manage function in a complex environment with multiple constituencies
• BA/BS required
• Master’s Degree Preferred
• Meaningful experience in project management (PMP certification preferred)
• Technical experience, including familiarity/use of technology supporting data and analytic projects
• Highly analytical, motivated, decisive thought leader with excellent managerial skills
• Strong understanding of retail and apparel best practices and trends
• Ability to influence and work through others to effectively navigate matrixed organization while ensuring that necessary stakeholders are informed
• Strong communication skills that is able to educate and influence management and senior leaders to act in a desired manner through written and verbal communication.
• Future-oriented thinker with expertise in external practices and trends
• Analytical and negotiating skills and proven ability to develop, sell and drive suitable partnerships, alliances, or other transactions to closure
• Demonstrates a sense of calmness under periods of uncertainty or change while dealing with stress in a manner that sets the necessary tone for the team and function
• High character and integrity, is consistent and acts in line with a clear and visible set of values and beliefs
• Global outlook with sensitivity and awareness of social and cultural differences
• Database experience and understanding of following tools: SQL, Visual Basic, Tableau, SAS, R, Cognos, MS Project, Sharepoint
