Designer, Wovens - Womens Special Markets

Job Responsibilities of Designer position:
• Generate tech packs for all woven product categories (blouses, dresses, jackets, bottoms, outerwear, denim) for each season from start to finish, including advising construction details, garment specs, and BOM information
• Sketch into tears and best seller bodies, brainstorm new silhouette ideas on a consistent basis
• Oversee woven exclusive style development for specific accounts each season, work closely with Sales team to meet the buyers’ needs
• Work with design team to create concept and print boards each season
• Create CAD presentations for Sales team to share with buyers
• Attend mill and vendor meetings each season, select qualities and developments to offer to exclusive accounts that meet a sharp price point and fall in line with the MK aesthetic
• Follow up with overseas agents on a daily basis regarding tech packs, style updates, new developments, and lab dip/strike off comments
• Create and recolor print artwork, send artwork and pitch sheets to overseas agents for strike off development, follow up with sample yardage orders and bulk fabric comments
• Attend fit sessions and communicate design changes to overseas agents
• Work with trim team on new developments each season
• Contribute to design meetings and advise input on constant basis
Requirements for Designer position:
• Minimum 3-5 years full time experience in a design position
• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
• Strong flat sketching abilities by hand and in Adobe Illustrator
• Strong knowledge of woven fabrics
• Strong knowledge of garment construction and specs
• Prior experience in Web PLM programs is preferred
• Prior experience mentoring or managing other team members, including interns, is a plus
Expectations for Designer position:
• Ability to communicate effectively with other members of the team and with agents overseas, strong written and verbal communication is expected
• Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment, able to handle working on multiple projects and seasons at once
• Must be a self-starter, able to initiate projects independently, seeks solutions by effectively using resources
• Must be a team player, able to work in a close-knit small team environment, maintain positive working relationships with other team members
• Must have a strong sense of urgency, able to work on a tight timeline to meet deadlines
• Professionalism in all areas including demeanor, appearance, and communication skills
• Strong presentation skills to communicate design ideas is expected
