What We Do:The Director, Print, Pattern, & Color Design drives the development of color and print identity for the brand. This person creates seasonal print concepts and maintains color expertise that is holistic and relevant to prints, patterns, and brand collection.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Creates seasonal print concepts and builds out relevant print/yarn dye/ embroidery pattern stories from that concept
• Maintains an understanding of print trends in the market
• Provides relevant imagery to communicate print trends to build seasonal color palettes and pattern boards
• Articulates a clear and passionate point of view regarding print, pattern and color
• Engages business leaders to maintain an understanding of business needs
• Develops and presents seasonal print/color stories that are on brand and preserve design intent
• Maintains an understanding of the print/vintage studios available and books appropriate studios based on business needs
• Creates new artwork and manipulates purchased print work to fit brand aesthetic
• Understands fabrications and identifies appropriate fabric based on design intent/aesthetic
• Continuously researches current trends in color and printed textiles techniques.
• Drives workflow and provides direction to CAD staff and manager of color services.
• Ensures that CAD studio meets seasonal deadlines and complete all technical CAD packages.
• Oversees department on daily basis ensuring proper procedures for data and file maintenance, CAD storage, etc.
• Identifies opportunities and makes recommendations for increasing workflow efficiencies and enhancing communication with business partners.
• Oversees preparation of artwork packages that comply with production ready standards.
• Oversees entire fabric and paper printing operations.
• Ensures print stays within scope of design intent
• Ensures compliance to legal requirements related to print
• Responsible for employee development and retention.
• Creates and adheres to annual departmental budget
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 8+ years experience in printed textile design; color matching and creation of colorways, preferably in Womens apparel
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Excellent organization, time management and communication skills.
• Awareness of product development from conceptualization to finished design for textiles.
• Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated leadership experience with motivating, inspiring and directing a team.
• Ability to express and influence customer on point of view.
• BA degree in Printed Textile Design or equivalent
• Knowledge of CAD systems/software/printers, an advantage
• Travel may be required as appropriate.
