How you’ll make a difference:
CustomInk is looking for a business-minded analytics leader to manage and develop our data analytics team. The team is responsible for mining and analyzing customer, merchandise and marketing data, customer transactions, website traffic, monitoring the day-to-day health of the CustomInk website and business overall. The work this team does provides data-based insights that drive everything from tactical decisions on an a/b test to informing our annual forecast and where we invest our marketing efforts.
As our Director of Data Analytics, you will play three critically important roles in the long-term success of CustomInk.
• The first is the shape the vision for how our data analytics team works. We have a growing set of tools and processes, and you will help set our standards for how we work and the tools we do that work with.
• Secondly, you will help our current team of whip smart data analysts grow their skills, operate more effectively, and become a high performance team that supports, pushes, and encourages each other.
• Finally, you will help set the context for how the rest of the business looks at our results. You will help define the models in which we review our results and judge our success.
We can give you two significant assets to accomplish this. As a top ecommerce site, we have a wealth of data about our market, prospects, customers, orders. We use that data to inform business decisions on a daily basis, and we expect you will become an expert in those datasets. You will also have an excellent team around you that has a broad range of skillsets, with deep knowledge about the company and our data.
This role will report to the VP of Data Technology and Analytics.
What you'll do:
• Standardize analytics processes
• Develop a deep understanding of the data, how it’s collected, and relationship between datasets, as well as the ability to identify holes
• Analysis of all types. Cohort analysis that shows performance over time, multi-session conversation funnel evaluation, multi-channel conversion measurement, call center performance, pricing elasticity measurement, order attribution modeling
• Partner with engineering teams to measure the performance of new site features and user experience improvements
• Develop order forecast models for individual channels ranging from online (search, display, facebook, etc.) to traditional (direct mail and print) and broadcast advertising (TV and radio)
• Own the web analytics tagging strategy across CustomInk websites and manage the relevant vendor relationships (e.g. Google Analytics)
• Be a strong leader through inspiration, care, development and talent management
• Communicate results and insights to stakeholders and the company at large
• And, as you're likely familiar, there's always plenty of ad hoc analysis that's needed too.
What we’re looking for:
The ideal candidate will have a track record of ….
Background:
• Management experience in data analytics (people management, not just project management)
• Academic success in an analytically challenging field, such as math, physics, computer science, or economics
• 8+ years solving business problems through qualitative & quantitative research, statistical analysis & modeling and strategic planning
• 2+ years as a team or project leader
• Experience with consumer-facing internet products & services and an understanding of how analytics teams can support agile engineering methods and lean product management
• Experience with datasets extending into the tens of millions of rows
• A track record for translating large, complex datasets and digesting them into actionable business insights that have an impact
• Expert Excel, Google Analytics, Database wiz; also Tableau, SAS, SPSS, R, SQL
• You’re intrigued (and undaunted) by the emerging field of machine learning and predictive analytics
• Excellence in statistics, data & analytics, predictive modeling & hypothesis testing
• Expertise with data visualization and presentation tools
