About Global Corporate Citizenship and Sustainability (GCCS):
In January 2017, The Estée Lauder Companies adopted an ambitious GCCS strategy aiming to fully integrate sustainability into company functions and drive top line growth. The GCCS team is responsible for overseeing and executing this strategy which includes overseeing sustainability issues such as stakeholder engagement, non-financial reporting, brand engagement, operations: energy & emissions and social investments. The team also facilitates and supports the execution of sustainability goals implemented by other departments/functions.
Opportunity Description:
The company seeks a Manager, GCCS, supporting the execution the Global Corporate Citizenship and Sustainability strategy. The Manager will play a key role in implementing the company’s sustainability efforts, manage company-wide projects on specific issue areas, and help facilitate sustainability goals executed by other departments/functions. The Manager role is designed to be flexible.
Responsibilities:
• Manage and execute elements of the GCCS strategy, and oversee project management, facilitation and execution of goals carried out by departments such as Global Supply Chain, Environmental Affairs and Safety, Packaging, Research and Development, Global Human Resources, and brand teams
• Track and report progress on budget and work plans
• Work in close collaboration with key internal business leads, including GCCS colleagues across Sustainability and corporate functions across ELC to execute strategy
• Serve as point of contact for a corporate functions
• Benchmark, synthesize, and communicate internally trends and insights from external sources
• Manage company sustainability reporting process (GRI) and investor and customer surveys
• Manage company-wide working group to drive sustainability value with brands
Qualifications
• Master’s degree in, for example, business and/or sustainability.
• Excellent understanding of generalist sustainability concepts, including social and environmental standards (e.g. UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, Carbon Disclosure Project, Global Reporting Initiative, UN Global Compact, etc.)
• Additional subject matter expertise across ELC focus areas a plus, including sustainability management, reporting and transparency, inclusion and diversity, and/or supply chain.
• 7 years of relevant professional experience from a top-tier consulting firm, NGO working with business, or a CSR/sustainability, corporate affairs, or similar role in the private sector.
• Experience working in a multi-branded retail company or other industry with high-profile consumer brands a plus.
• Experience managing multiple, disparate projects simultaneously.
• Well-developed interpersonal skills for high-level interaction with other functions and brands.
• Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills, including communicating and marketing sustainability efforts.
• Capacity to work and thrive in a growing, fast-paced entrepreneurial organization with a collaborative environment.
• Highly analytical, can synthesize information and offer recommendations/solutions.
• Fluent in both written and conversational English; fluency in a second language an advantage.
• Ability to undertake business travel 25 percent of time or more.
• High ethical standards and commitment to core values of leadership, respect, and integrity.
