Reporting Relationship:The Assistant, Design, M's Shoes, Belts, Bags, SLG is a key role within Owned Brands reporting to the Manager, Design, M's Shoes, Belts, Bags, SLG.

Major Responsibilities:
The Assistant, Design will offer support to the M's Sportswear & Tailored team in the successful execution of a brand design strategy. In this role, the core responsibilities are to offer assistance in delivering timely execution of key design milestones from concept through final buy meeting. The Assistant, Design also supports the collaboration with execution partners including sourcing, merchandising, planning, and buying. This role will support multiple banners and their brands, including Lord and Taylor, Saks Off Fifth, Hudson's Bay and Gilt.
Role Responsibilities Include:
• Research for new ideas and inspirational concepts that are relevant to multiple menswear brands.
• Prepare presentation boards with sketches and images.
• Regularly correspond with Merchandising/Design/Sourcing/Buying teams.
• Review and comment on prototypes/samples and communicate comments to suppliers.
• Track and organize samples for internal review, presentations to teams, and marketing.
• Organize documentation form multiple suppliers over multiple banners and product categories.
• Creating linesheets with images, costings, and deliveries for presentation to buying teams.
• Review, analyze, and discuss weekly selling reports.
Qualifications
Professional Qualifications:
• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree
• 1-3 years of related experience
• Confidence to present research trends and designs to managers
• Proficient in Adobe Suite (Illustrator and Photoshop)
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office required, especially in Excel
• Strong color sense
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
• Strong retail math skills
• Excellent organizational skills, with strong time management and the ability to prioritize and multitask
• Professional demeanor and appearance
• Enthusiastic team player with excellent problem solving skills, good follow through and a sense of urgency
• Ideal candidate would be able to work in a professional fast paced environment and be able to deal with shifting priorities.
