Description
Converse Communications Specialist
The Communications Specialist will support and execute the Converse communications strategy. This person will work with media, our PR agency, write press communications, pitch, pitch, and pitch some more.
This person will have deep expertise and insight into the media landscape, what drives the media and how to engage with the media in an impactful way. This person will jump at the opportunity to live and breath the Converse brand.
As a member of the team, this candidate will play an integral supporting role in helping to create deep, credible and authentic connections with media, influencers and internal stakeholders through our storytelling. The ideal candidate will participate in all aspects of the PR/Comms function with responsibilities that will include: media monitoring, sample coordination, product pitching, and media moments, apparel, accessories and corporate activities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Creative storyteller and Product enthusiast
• Manage and own the coordination and trafficking of all product sample collections for all editorial requests
• Manage day-to-day sample closet and showroom organization on a daily and seasonal basis
• Work with Media Relations team to coordinate pitches for key product categories for inclusion in editorial stories and pages
• Proactively build and maintain authentic and strategic media relationships with print and digital publications, broadcast media and other key media influencers most relevant to Converse, segmenting media for fashion, culture, sport, art and music
• Work cross-functionally within the global communications pipeline, to develop comprehensive communications strategy that effectively incorporates pertinent news cycles, and ensures consistent storytelling and messaging for internal and external constituents
• Play a large role in coordinating seasonal product stories and Press Preview planning
• Oversee the monitoring of all press coverage (print, digital, TV)
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree
• A minimum 5 years relevant work experience.
• A self-starter who instinctively and consistently creates personal and professional stretch goals and meets them.
• Works well with others with the ability to build trust with the team and work effectively in a highly collaborative team environment
• Proven ability to work well under pressure and adapt quickly to change.
• Excellent writing and editing skills.
• Curiosity and ability to think creatively, flexibility, and a sense of humor.
