About the role:
The editorial team is in search of a Lifestyle Editor to help expand and guide our growing coverage. We’re looking for someone who is as passionate about solo vacations as they are about DIY space-saving ideas. The Editor will be vital in shaping the creative direction of service-minded content about food, home, and travel.
What you’ll do:
• Work with Director to constantly challenge the team to conceive and execute the most cutting-edge content online, creating sharp programming that is voicey, stylish, shareable, and NEW
• Generate story ideas for features, packaged service, and work with Director to build out the monthly calendar
• Top edit 5-6 stories per day from staff writers and freelance contributors
• Pitch and execute 1 forward-thinking story per day — including original video concepts — that ensure R29 continues to lead in the lifestyle space
• Help manage freelancers/contributors
• Work with Director to ensure team meets monthly production and traffic goals
• Work closely with partnering brands to help strengthen relationships and create the most innovative brand work in the business
• Represent R29 at industry events, panels, and applicable press trips
• Work with Director, Executive Editors, and special projects team on tentpole initiatives
• Ensure that all Refinery29 content is size inclusive and racially diverse
What you have:
• Bachelor's Degree
• 3+ years of relevant experience
• Positive, intuitive/proactive, and collaborative team player
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Superior judgment and discretion
